Ok, here is a little quiz to see if anyone can identify this car. Would make a good tow car if it had a bit more power. A prize you ask, hmmmmmmmmm!!! have to think about that one. Ken

Koala, Unless i am wrong it is a TATRA. Dont know what year but i think they may have had a 3.5 litre V8 that i think was rear mounted. But i do remember reading about them in several English Car Mags over the years usually with crazy comments about crazy handling. Oh and by the way they all spoke about the PETROL fired car heater situated under the drivers seat. Such fun i believe. And just asking is it by any chance in the Canberra area regards don

Give the man a prize from the top shelf for being so quick ;D Here is the front view. Yes, rear mounted air cooled V8. 2.5 litres. And for the next test, what is this one ?? Ken

hi again koala, bigdidda and especially veedubnut. here's a bit of news that you may or may not already know. ferdinand porsche STOLE both the body design AND engine configuration from the 1934 T77 and T97 tatra's. VW had to pay a 3 000 000 deutschemark settlement in 1961 for stealing the design. so greg, it turns out that "if it's not in a tatra, you're not going".Have a look at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatra_%28car%29#Prewar_streamlinersgeoff 'n jude

Now that little history lesson is finished, how about an identity for the second car. I take it that the silence means that you are all stumped - it is probably as old as some of our members so someone should remember. ;D ;D
The Tatra car in the photos was imported by a man in Canberra who also owns a Tatra ex defence force communications vehicle that has a maximum speed of 50kph - great thing to take on the highway. Ken

Hello Geoff & Jude, It is indeed a Tatra... It's gotta be one of the ugliest cars ever made but, yes I'll have one... I think by memory it is a 6 cylinder rear mounted and they are well known to handle like a dog on a wet lino floor Yes I'll have to change my little comment at the bottom of my posts Cheers Greg If its not in a TatraconcievedVolkswagen I'm not going ;D
