Hi, A few years ago I purchased this caravan from someone who just had it sitting under some trees, I am currently looking to do it up however, am unable to find any VIN or Chassis number anywhere. I have searched high and low and have figured out today that a previous owner may have put a new tow bar/a frame on at some point possibly also removing any way of identifying the caravan. I would love to at least get some ideas as to the manufacturer so I may be able to get a new Chassis/VIN allocated to it so I can finally move this caravan around and get it repaired. Any information or ideas you have would be greatly appreciated. I can take more photos upon request however, there isn’t much of the interior left as I had to gut it, I do still have some of the cupboards, cupboard doors and tiles from the floor.

Hi Brycepace, Your van is a Franklin Freeway, one of the last I would say with the slightly larger windows, which puts it at 1970. It’s a 14.6x7 model with sandwich panel walls. The A frame does look slightly different to normal, have a look under drawers and inside cupboards to seee if you can find any numbers. Franklin often put production and chassis numbers in inconspicuous places, use a little mirror if you have to.😉 Hope this helps Cheers hughdeany

Hi Hughdeany Thank you so much for this information, when doing my own research I completely missed Franklin caravans so this information will be very useful. I have already looked through all the drawers and cupboards and am almost certain now that an old owner has changed the chassis. Thanks again for the information though.

Where are you? If in Victoria Vicroads will issue you with a new chassis number which will need to be stamped into the draw bar. Other states are probably similar, contact your state registration authority for advice.

Hi sportsman 1 I am located in Victoria and had already contacted VicRoads about issuing a new chassis number. The issue was they couldn’t do it without knowing the model and manufacturer of the caravan which I did not have at the time. I now have an idea so everything should be fine now but thanks for your assistance.
