I have researched from Google to have water tanks full at home or empty. ( preference seems to be full)
Full means weight on the tyres when at rest, sometimes for weeks, empty possibly means bacteria forming in the tanks?
What is the general consensus here?

Hi Mustang I don't worry about full/empty tanks. I simply top mine up before I leave. But then I have a policy of carrying my drinking water separately, bottled for daily water intake and a 10 and 15 litre containers for coffee making.

Hi Mustang,
Just adding to what has already been said…
It depends what your tanks are made out of. Ours are made out of galvanised iron (tin). We always empty the tanks on the way home or after we arrive home. I made the mistake many years ago of leaving some water in both tanks only to find that next time we went to use them, they’d rusted through the at the water level line! I wasn’t happy!

Hi Mustang,
we have plastic in both our vans and I normally leave them near empty or empty when stored. I drain and refill a couple of days prior to going away. Both vans are stored undercover.
cheers Nick
