*** UPDATE*** scroll down for booking details
I might be jumping the gun here, but now that Melbourne is out of lockdown (yay!) I was thinking it's time to start planning our next Gippsland Gathering. To give people time to plan - and staying clear of school holidays and other vv events - I'm thinking March 26-28 (Fri-Sun) at Powlett River Caravan Park - dates negotiable of course. I'm heading to Powlett River next month to try it out. Can't wait!
Let me know if you're keen
Cheers, Lisa

Thats only 1 week before Easter, Lisa, not that, that bothers me, but might not suit others. Sorry to put a dampener on a great idea! Cheers Ralph.

Thanks for the heads-up Ralph, I overlooked that and I agree that it might not suit some. We can make it a week or two before - nothing was set in stone. How about 19-20-21 March? Those dates are 2 weeks after Labor Day (Vic) and 2 weeks before Easter...

The first date suits me, I was hoping for others to comment as to whether it is suitable for them. I'll go with the flow! We need to generate more interest. We will have to get more thoughts from others at Bridgewater in Feb'!

Ralph, I think we won't be leaving ourselves enough time if we wait til Bridgewater for feedback. The last time I asked for input re dates I had equal numbers wanting two different dates and I had to choose between the two. Some of those who specifically requested the dates I chose didn't turn up! And of course there were the last minute cancellations due to the weather... it was bloody stressful lol. I think it's easier to just set a date and be done with it However, I won't make any decisions until I head to Powlett River next month (9-12 Dec) but I'm leaning towards the dates of 19-21 March Hopefully we'll have some more feedback by then. I'll also post on a couple of Facebook groups.

Well I finally made it to Powlett River for a 4 night stay with a couple of girlfriends (Rob turned up for the last night). We had a wonderful time. It really is a nice old school caravan park with clean amenities and great owners. It was pretty windy - too windy for my awning - so that could be an issue, but I think it was windy everywhere last weekend. I spoke to one of the owners and he suggested I book several sites "to be confirmed" so that we're all together and then everyone can book one of those sites under their name. They don't require a booking deposit. Just pay when you turn up. So if everyone is ok with it, I'll give them a call and tentatively book 10 sites for March 19-21. Dogs welcome and don't forget your pushbike for the rail trail!

Hi is this only for pre 70s vans? We have a 1985 Winnebago and would love to join you guys for the Gippsland Gathering. If we are eligible would it be possible for you to send / email us an invitation to our Vintage Club. We are in the Laurieton Vintage Motor Club. Laurieton is on the Mid North Coast of NSW.
Thanks Fionnu

If we are eligible would it be possible for you to send / email us an invitation to our Vintage Club. We are in the Laurieton Vintage Motor Club. Laurieton is on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Thanks Fionnu Hi there, that’s a great question and I’m happy to say that we are very inclusive here. I don’t think anyone would mind what vehicle (caravan/motorhome etc) you have as long as you have an interest in vintage caravans. Many of us have classic caravans from the 70s or more than one caravan, all from different eras. It’s the interest in vintage caravans that brings us all together. However, I would ask that you don’t book any of the sites I’ve reserved for forum members with vintage/classic caravans - I’ve only reserved 10 sites. There are ample unpowered sites if that’s an option or you could contact the caravan park and book some sites that aren’t already reserved. There’s no formal invitation process here - is that something required by your motor club? Scroll through this thread for caravan park contact details and let me know how you get on Cheers, Lisa

Hi Lisa Thanks for information. We would really like to drive down and if you could send us an official invitation from your club this would allow us to travel without using logbook as we are on Historic plates. Invitation can be sent to: Laurieton Vintage Motor Club C/o fionnu.dixon@yahoo.com.au Cheers Fionnu

I don’t think anyone would mind what vehicle (caravan/motorhome etc) you have as long as you have an interest in vintage caravans. I personally certainly would not mind at all, and welcome anyone, I have myself a vintage home built bond wood towed by a modern (now classic '99 Ford) I think the main point is to get together with good friends who enjoy common interes and enjoy talking about old vans and other stuff, while seeing new places.

Hi Lisa, I have just booked 2 sites - 14 & 15. See you there!
On the other matter I agree with your thoughts re modern things attending, no problem with anybody with an interest attending but I would prefer to have the old ones parked together as a group rather than all mixed in together.
Leigh.

6 of the 10 reserved sites are now booked. Although I've only reserved 10 sites, there's roughly 16 sites in our allocated area that can be booked. It would be great to fill them all

It seems I have underestimated the interest in our little gathering. The 10 sites I reserved have now been booked which is great. All the other powered sites in our area have been booked out by other (non-vintage) caravanners so if anyone else wishes to come there are currently 6 sites available in another area (they're lovely sites and not too far away so don't be put off) or alternatively a couple of non-powered sites are available in our area. To those of you who have booked - thank you! If you haven't already done so, please let me know if you are coming to the Saturday night dinner at Kilcunda Pub. Cheers, Lisa
