Hi all. Just new to this site.
I just recently purchased this run down caravan on 2 August 2020 in a paddock rotting away not far from owners house (Inglewood, Victoria).
It how ever has been sitting in the one position since put on property probably start or early 2000's. (maybe end of 90's)
The caravan at the time was in excellent condition and the owner at the time told his misses it will be fine where it is but she wanted a shed built for it.
I asked the current owner now (he since left her) and she offered me a price figure of 300 as it is and i said yep sold.
It is far as i know original but fridge was installed in 1974 and have the original owner manual and receipt showing it purchased and installed.
Yes all side windows i have and not smashed in there original frames except front and rear windows and the stove which recently one in our town sold for $150 in a main street stall.
The pictures shows it starting to fall apart very quickly and so i now in the process of dismantling everything so i can use the side walls as templates when i start to rebuild around December when i purchase new materials.
Everything will be re-used of what is good and restored and re-chromed even to the hinges and screws on cupboards etc.
I did find on the rounds in the caravan and came across the handle for the stay supports under the rear of the caravan.
The jockey wheel is original also and is a screw type shaft through a plate which is attached to frame on caravan and has a r like pin you pull out on the bottom to take off the wheel housing part. ( i reckon so it does not get lost when towing behind vehicles). The jockey wheel is stamped Globe.
Also the name plate near the caravan door on left bottom say's Globe caravans sales and service Burwood Melbourne.
The frame and under carriage is excellent and this been good will make a great restorer. Yes i have taken extensive pictures to see what goes where. The rear window frame is with the caravan also and still like most is useable but new timber will be used in place also. Perspex was added to front and rear of caravan i say original windows were smashed.
It needs a lot of work but am looking forward something a bit different as i do have knowledge of use to work in a cabinet making factory.
More less will be used as a spare room and relaxing tea and lunch breaks when working in the shed.
It may also be registered to use on road behind my 1960 FB Holden at times as well.
Oh and the coupling is not the turn nut style with spring locking pin on the side (these are now banned ) It is similar to the ones today but and earlier version with a lift locking device with the grooves on the side for the spring flip catch to sit in and this takes the small ball as well. Have never seen one before.
I will upload better pictures down the but at moment just a shot from phone to show the caravan at present. (pictures shows caravan walls missing in areas).
I do have these as they just torn away from frame when taking the rear off. (all these will be used as templates as mentioned above).
Oh i forgot to mention that caravan was about to be used as a starting point for a bon fire to be burnt. I think i saved it in time what was left of it. Happy to purchase it for 300 and was not far to cart on trailer back to my house 2k south of Inglewood. (update)
