Are there any Triton owners out there, Specifically 2017 MQ models, I have recently fitted a tow bar to my Cab Chassis (bought second hand) now want to wire up a trailer plug, has any one just piggy backed off the existing tail lights and if so has it had any effect on the running of the car? spoke with an Auto Elec but he didn't seem to sure and suggested asking a Mitsi dealer, they want $380 just for a trailer plug loom which I think is just a tad over the top for what it is so thought I would ask here, thanks in advance. Derk AKA Humpyboy (yes I'm still around )

Hi Derk. Good to hear from you. Can't specifically answer your question, but I fear you may have to lash out for that loom. Had a neighbour who had a similar problem with a BMW 4x4 and had to fork out close to $1000!! Maybe you're getting off lightly. Have you considered wreckers?

Most new cabling will not support piggy back connections. There are safety consequences for using the correct loom, not to mention insurance wiping you in case of an accident. We had to fork out $600 for a Toyota loom.

G'day Roehm3108 and Mustang, thanks for your replies, made a few more inquiries and have a couple of leads to follow up on, my thoughts were as you said Mustang, never know what they have done with these new fangled cars of today and yes Ray I have thought of wreckers just haven't contacted any as yet, figure anyone wanting a plug harness would have bought the towbar as well or vice versa but is an avenue I have yet to follow up on. Cheers Derk, oh and by the way if anyone is interested the Roadcruiser is still on my drive, looks like it will be a retirement project for me.

Update, have found a place online in Qld, Towbars Australia, they sell both towbar kits and harnesses on their own so have ordered one just need to see that it works when I've plugged it in and run a separate power wire from the Batt to the rear of the car to power the relays, if it works then I am way ahead cos it only costs $95 that I find is a lot more appealing than the original $380 quote from Mitsubishi.

Geeeeezzz I'm slack, nearly 12 months and I'm here replying to my post, I did get that wiring loom from Towbars Australia and it fitted up real easy with the instructions supplied and worked from the get go with absolutely no problems what so ever.
