20 July 2919 is the 50th anniversary of the First Man on the Moon. A few of us are gunna brave the cold & celebrate. It’s just 2 days after Full Moon so Rob is gunna bring his telescope so we can get a closer look & see if there’s rubbish on the Moon too! Seriously tho, as Van sings: Its a Marvelous night for a Moondance, isn’t it?
Friday nite is open to suggestions, share a dish/bbq/toasted sandwiches/pub/takeaway pizza/campfire cookery!
Saturday nite is bring a dish to share, preferably a loony one to celebrate in the Camp kitchen. Loony costumes are welcome including silver jumpsuits & anything you would have worn in 1969.
Garry, caretaker at Canungra Showgrounds has reserved the area for us around the great new camp kitchen from Thursday 18 to Monday 22 July. It’s close to Amenities so no need for Giant Steps or Leaps if you need the loo(n). Camping with power at the Showgrounds will cost $25/night/couple, dogs are allowed on leads & fires are allowed in drums. No need to book a spot, just let me know in this thread by PM or by text if you want to come & which nights you will be coming. Just pay Garry in first house on right as you drive into Showgrounds. Phone 075543 5904 if you want further info from Garry.
For anyone that hasn't been to Canungra before, it’s a lovely little village west of the Gold Coast with plenty of things to do around the area, such as O’Reillys Guesthouse, Lamington Plateau, wineyards, hot air ballooning etc etc.
Please bring some firewood & if you can! And music from 1969!
