Anne and I are heading down to the Yorke Peninsula and Flinders Ranges. I am posting this for three reasons. Firstly to let anybody who is interested that they are quite welcome to join us on some or all of the trip. Secondly to invite anybody in the areas that we are staying at then they are welcome to wander in to the caravan park for a chat about vintage caravans – or just to drink beer.
Thirdly – To get advice on the best places to visit along the roads travelled on this trip.
The plan is 19/4/2019 – Canberra to Hay – free Camp 1 night 20/4/2019 – Hay – Renmark 2 nights – probably free camp 22/4/2019 – Renmark – Moonta – 3 nights – using this as a base camp 25/4/2019 – Moonta – Minlaton – 3 nights- using this as a base camp 2 28/4/2019 – Minlaton – Marree – (Probably take 3 days to get there) - There is nothing planned for this component of the trip as I am not sure what there is to see in the Flinders Ranges as we head towards Marree. Advice please from those with experience of the Flinders Rangers.
Then head back to Canberra along the Murray. Probably take 3 to 4 days
Michael

Hi Michael It's been 50 years since I was in the Flinders Ranges. I do know it's a great area to explore. I suspect that you are going to find that you may have underestimated the timing/distances a tad and find that you are on the road a lot to cover the territory you're planning. For example, it's over 650 klms from Minlaton to Marree. I spent almost a week in Wilpena Pound alone. Make sure you spend a day in Burra somewhere along the way.
Enjoy!
