Our very cute mid 1950s Don caravan number 716 would love someone to give it some extra love and get it back on the road, after many years of being a spare room and extra storage in a backyard in Kennington, a suburb of Bendigo, Victoria. It's mostly original and is a 14 ft, four berth model 140, including a bath! Asking price is $8000. If anyone is interested in having a look, please feel free to contact me via message on here or call me on 0402629377 2019-01-30_0 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1880 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1881 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1882 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1876 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1877 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1878 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1879 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1892 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1883 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1885 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1887 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1889 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1875 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1867 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1869 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1871 by Annette Conway, on Flickr 1870 by Annette Conway, on Flickr

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply ncwcars, but I'm new to this forum and am slowly getting used to how things work. I'm asking $8000 and have amended my original post to reflect that and also added my mobile number if that's easier to contact me that way.

Wow, they are still out there, what a project appears to just need paint & a front window to match.

Wow, they are still out there, what a project appears to just need paint & a front window to match. Yes Mustang, it's in pretty good nick considering it's been in Mum and Dad's backyard since the 1970s! The front and the two other side windows need matching. I'm sure there are some other things too, but the majority of the interior is original. I have a couple of friends that would be able to answer any technical questions, as I am only a 'new chum' to that part of things. I have just found Nanna's journals " A Caravan Holiday" and "Where Our Caravan Has Rested" that began their travelling journey on the 17th of October, 1960 and am enjoying reading them. Please spread the word if you know anyone that's interested on taking over the history of this little gem!

Hi once again everyone! I was hoping to have sold our delightful Don 716 by now, as everyone that comes to have a look absolutely loves it's charm, but unfortunately there have been no serious offers yet. Please continue to spread the word!

Try putting it on Gumtree & make sure to use the words 'Don Vintage Caravan' in the title so people can find it. It's a beautiful caravan & I am surprised it hasn't been snapped up. Good luck. SGTL

If you use Ebay you can use an auction with your starting price & set a reserve.
I have noticed that even Sunliners are not selling quickly, my experience after 53 years in retail is after the election sales always pick up, be patient as said it is a wonderful project, someone will snap it.

Thanks for your suggestions SGTL and Mustang! I have found another friend who is a member of a car club and he is going to share it for me too and if I have no response in the next couple of days, will try Gumtree or ebay

I am thrilled to be able to say that my partner and I are the Don's new custodians. We recently moved to Avoca on Victoria's Pyrenees region, and are presently doing some urgent repairs to huge (1000 square metres) old sheds (formerly a textile printing works that closed down in the early 1970s) which will house my classic cars and bikes, and now a 1953 Don 140.
Watch this space!

Congratulations and welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing how you get on. I’ve just been through the restoration of a don myself. Loved it (mostly) I’m also in Victoria and down in Melbourne. Don 990
