A forum member used to have a grey one of these called 'the spud'? Possibly Leanne Boardman? I can't quite remember at the moment

Hi Roehm and SGTL, The van in the advert is a 1947 home-build that was restored by a guy called Graham and was in attendance at the VV Nationals in Mount Gambier in 2008 - see reference to it here. Looks like it may be him who is selling it now. It’s an amazing van for a few reasons. One is that all the open shelves in the top section are mounted on an angle so that when the top goes up, they are absolutely level (as of course they would need to be, but it’s a clever piece of engineering). The other thing that I loved about the van was the fridge which you can see in the advert, and which is a modern 3-way fridge...but Graham got the door shell off an old period domestic fridge and cut it down to fit over the door of the modern fridge. It involved cutting the door shell in half - or actually cutting the middle section out - and then rejoining the halves. The join is covered by the original chrome strip from the door. Sounds simple enough, but the craftsmanship and finish in the whole thing left me open mouthed. SGTL, the van you are thinking of was a Mayfare (or Mayfair) which was owned by Cruz. Similar sort of principle but a quite different result as you can see here. Don Ricardo

Very nice unit but personally I would have to get rid of the horrid black & white flooring and put some period wheels back on it.

JBJ is alive and well while you're on the forum sportsman 1!! An interior decorating teacher once told me that there was no such thing as bad taste. I regularly remind myself of that adage when I see how some vans are decorated!!!
