Hi all,
The 'General...2008 Onwards' section of the forum has been re-labelled the 'General Interest Posts' section and now incorporates both the 'General...2008 onwards' and 'General...2004 to 2007' sub-sections. The latter sub-section used to be in its own section towards the bottom of the forum table of contents, but it seemed logical to have all the general interest posts together. There have been no changes to any of the threads or posts contained in either sub-section.
There are some interesting threads and posts in the 'General...2004 to 2007' sub-section relating to the early days of the forum, so if you've never looked at it before, you might like to browse through it when you've got a quiet few minutes.
For those interested in knowing why the two sub-sections exist in the first place, around the end of 2007 the forum administrators were advised that there was a maximum number of threads that could be created in any one section of the forum, and that once the maximum was reached, threads would automatically start to be deleted, beginning with the oldest first. To avoid this possibility, a new section was created for general interest posts created after 1 January 2008. As it turned out the original information about there being a maximum number of threads was untrue, and the 'General...2008 onwards' section has been used for new threads on a continuing basis since then.
