The General, Graeme, I wont be able to make it to WA this year. Missed out again. I have to have a Kidney removed in a month or two, just waiting! All my plans were coming together nicely, until my specialist threw a spanner in the works, I said can it wait 6 months, he said a big NO. I've planed this WA trip for 3 years now. Shattered again! Cheers Ralph.

Camping at Winton. Anne just brought this to my attention in regard to the camping at Winton. Its in the camping rules "Vehicles may be subject to a comprehensive search by the WMR Staff and Security for contra banned items including weapons, alcohol, illicit drugs, fireworks, unregistered vehicles and other articles referred to in the conditions of entry and campground rules."
Its the alcohol that worries me. I may need a tipple for medicinal purposes.
Could those who have been to winton before advise on what the rules are.

Arr the rules what can I say, it can easily be summed up as "SLACK", these rules are in place mainly for the V8 races which draw a different type of crowd, so they need the ability to control the alcohol. For us you will have no problem... I too enjoy a drink around the fire at happy hour and on into the movie night, never had any problem with them yet.
You are allowed fires and they provide drums so we plan to have a fire and shared munchies before a movie. Last time we only got to watch half of the Italian job before the gremlins struck, so I plan to watch the second half lol...
You can even use a generator this weekend although they ban them for the V8 weekend next week. The showers are extremely wet and hot, but camping is un-powered. However a great atmosphere being so close to the track.
So relax and enjoy will be great again.
I will be there around Lunch time on Friday, Look out for dad's little modern teardrop.

A big thank you to all who made the effort to come along and put your lovely vans on show. And thanks for the great times around the fire and camp.
Word is that it will be on again next year so if you know any one else (even classic van owners) who want to join us pass their details on to me by PM and I will add them to the list and keep them informed for next year.

Our Winton trip started Thursday night where I picked up Wiffie and the Prince and drove to our favorite overnight free (gold coin donation) camp at the Merton Racecourse

Lovely pics!!! Those Clippers are a real blast from the past. I rode from Brissy to Melb on a Greyhound once when I was 16 and venturing on my first working holiday to Tassie.
