Our 1957-59 Swanson caravan has been renovated into a habitable little van. We are going to have to learn Living Tiny. It has given me great pleasure in resurrecting this little van. Had to replace 10% of the timber frame, all the rear section, All external cladding and internal cladding has been replaced with new as the old was not repairable. For safety reasons we have added an Electric brake axle and coupling, all new rims and radial tyres. Would have loved to keep it Authentic, but it was impractiable for us, so we added the double bed, microwave, Fridge. All external walls have be insulated with 20mm styrene sheet, the ceiling was lowered an addition 75mm and ceiling insulated with R3 batts. Hatch had to be completely replaced. Side windows are original just refurbished, all front and rear glass has been replaced with perpex. Vehicle is now registered and its first trip is to Bribie Island on 12/9/17. Hope to have it at 2018 Nationals.

Wow Fo00se, what a great effort. Congratulations. So good to see this van restored. It's a very rare one - the only one we've seen on the forum. Don Ricardo

A worthy restoration and rebuild of a van that really looked like it belonged to the wreckers. Congratulations on your work, now go out there and enjoy the journey!!
