Hello Kerri, This van has the same Lino as my '75 Viscount Royal. They may have just bought it in bulk, though
Regards Sunfinder

Hi Mysunfinder,
Can your friend tell you the serial number on the A-frame? If so that will tell us the approximate, or even the exact year.

Hi Don RicardoI forgot to mention. The draw bar had been cut off and replaced. As we searched the inside of the cuoboards, we found 10076. There was no letter before it but it had the word 'Birch' above it. Here is a pic.

insert code here Viscount certainly had some mileage out of this lino pattern, it is still inside some cupboards in our 77 Classic. The ceiling looks in great order, as with the rest of the interior.

G'day kerri, Your friend's van is an Ambassador from the first couple of years in 1970. The chassis number will be the letter 'E' in front of those numbers 10076. Your last photo shows a glimpse of the painted design on the off-side of the van. The same original colour paint and design should be on the near-side (door side) but perhaps the van has been repainted on that side. The van is the first in the series when Viscount started using a different sticker design on their vans, and changed the model names to Supreme, Royal, and Ambassador. The model name would be shown at the bottom of the sticker where the Ambassador name is showing in your photos. This new sticker design was applied to vans from around about the end of 1970, from memory.
The 'C' in the centre of the sticker is an acknowledgement to John Carr, who founded the Viscount brand all those years ago.
cheers, Al.

Thank you Mustang. They will be happy with the info but they probably won't want anymore as they are converting it to an art room for the wife and it will be permanent in the backyard. I did say congratulations on purchasing a vintage caravan. Kerri

Hello Mustang and Franklin1, Are you able to tell me please what the two medieval weapons are in the photo of the rear windows? They don't look like anything on mine

G'day mysunfinder, they look like brackets for a louvre sunshade. Perhaps this van was parked in a permanent position, rather than towed on a regular basis.
cheers, Al.

Hi mysunfinder and Franklin1 I would like to say that they were weapons to fight off evil but yes, the owners do have louvers for the back. Sorry to disappoint. Kerri
