We have just purchased a Propert Van Serial No 9.300. I think that means 1969 build and the 300th Propert van built. It has a 3 piece addition that is secured to the roof with 4 hinges (about 25 cm toward the front of the van from the top of the door) . After the outer shell has been rotated through 90 Degrees (approx) and the rear section is vertical, This add-on is lifted and 2 pieces (one either side, hinge down to form a 60cm extension to provide a cover above and beside the entry door. These pieces are held with sliding bolts when not in use and more sliding bolts when they are in position. This add on may have been done by a pr There are fittings mounted on this structure to permit the attachment of an annex, which came with the van. We had a Propert back in the 70s but sold it to a person from Canberra. I can't find the serial number of that van. My email is geoff@isotel.com.au Regards Geoff

Please do not confuse the Propert kitchenware with Propert caravans. Whilst the two families are related, the caravans were built by different members. Propert kitchen accessories are still trading today.

Sgtl, obviously son #1 has overdosed on vintage vans due to his parent's involvement in all things vintage. 99.9% of teenagers wouldn't have even noticed the Propert name, so you have passed on your 'genes' well. (hmm...actually... 99.9% of teenagers wouldn't even be doing the dishes, so you have REALLY passed on your 'genes' well! ) cheers, Al.
