This is ‘sort of’ a follow up on the Airfloat post I put up. Mark.. Maybe you can take heart from this story about a trailer park in California that has been given Historic Monument status. It’s a tribute to the history of ‘Old Homes on the Move’ and maybe it’s only a matter of time before something similar happens in Oz. By coincidence the picture of the guy who runs the place has an Airfloat van behind him. He looks just like you’d expect an old caravan nutter to look – don’t you think? Phil Noyes has made a documentary about the Monterey Trailer Park and co written a book.. “Trailer Travel, A Visual History of Mobile America” There are museums for just about everything around the country, but caravans seem to only get a corner in larger museums, such as the National Museum and Birdwood Motor Museum. Not that there’s anything wrong with that mind, but I’d suggest that Kevin Wild, in Victoria has the basis for what could be a very interesting dedicated Caravan Museum. Kevin is considered a bit of a nutter by people in the district. Maybe that’s the qualification you need and Kevin’s vision is getting closer to reality?

Hi Jim,
Have you got a copy of Noyes' book, and is it worth obtaining?
Cheers, Tim

I don't have the book Tim, although it's on my 'get it sometime' list. It is available from Amazon and would be about $30.00 AU all up with postage, exchange etc..
By the way.. The Phil Noyes who co-wrote the 'Trailer Travel' book and made the doco about the Monterey Park is not the Aussie Phillip Noyce (Of Dead Calm/Rabbit Proof Fence/Quiet American, fame) Very similar names, both in the same business and easy to confuse.
