If anyone is interested in displaying their van in Canberra this Sunday then please come along.
I have a few spots reserved and have a drop out and it would be good to fill all spots.

At short notice I approached the organisers of the Canberra Wheels combined clubs display day to make provision for a couple of vintage vans to display at the event. Being a car display day I was expecting to be unsuccessful but it turned out great as they made provision for 4 vans with tow cars right in the middle of the event between the two carparks. At a rough guess there would have been over 500 cars attending.........and 4 vintage vans. I believe that it was good for the VV movement having the vans there and we certainly drew some attention being kept busy all day answering questions. Thank you to Tooleyau, Paul Jamieson and Mausie for coming along to support the day. Jennison was scheduled to come but had last minute commitments. Maybe next year we can get a bit more organised and make a bigger day of it. This was the first outing for Grandads Van and the van received many favourable comments. I came away with my head held high and chest out as the CAR club committee came to me as I was leaving and asked to inspect the van. OK, no worries I said as I opened the van up again.......then they dropped the bombshell........`we would like to nominate your van as `Restoration of the Year'. Ummmm OK I said but this is a car show. They felt that no cars were eligible for the award so as my van was a `VEHICLE' it could stand for the award. Anyway they had a look at Mausies Capricorn as well and will go into a huddle after the event and let me know in August what they are going to do........whichever way I feel elated Koala

Glad to see it went well Ken. Make that a double as following wheels a few yrs back I was contacted a few days later and my pathfinder and royal got a people's choice award they were running....we're slowly taking over the car show!!!!! It's always a great turnout Canberra wheels. Sorry again about my late cancellation but unexpected discovery of a bad leak in the roof of our cabin down the coast had to take urgent priority for repairs this weekend! Regards Jenno
