Most people will remember that the famous Cooly Rocks On Festival in Coolangatta used to be called Wintersun in its smaller & quieter days. Some event organisers are now trying to recreate some of the original magic of those days by staging Wintersun 2.00 at Murwillumbah Showground, just 20kms south of Coolangatta & a week prior to Cooly Rocks On, on 2-5 June. Amenities at Murwillumbah Showground have been upgraded recently, & camping will cost $20/night/2 people. Showground is within easy walking distance of town & has sensational views across the canefields to the mountains. Dogs on leads allowed. I phoned organiser who is happy for us to be in a group near the Amenities. Let me know in this thread if you’re interested. www.wintersun2.com.au/

Hi there,I looked at the flyer for this event and couldn't see any mention of vintage vans. We went down for a look 2 years ago and there was a great turnout of the vans but I'm told this years event is run be different people. Does anybody know if vintage vans are invited?

Hi Cathy,
Can you tell me if the Vans are on display or if we are just staying and can check out all the other event activities.
Thanks Deanna

Hi all Cathy and Rob are still in clean up mode and are isolated from the world by a washed out bridge at the moment and Cathy has asked me to give you an update on the event. Firstly the price $120 per van including entry for 2 people, powered site, amenities for 3 nights and all the activities($100 is going to the show ground)
The Vintage/Classic vans area will start near the entrance gate and go around towards the amenities block and beyond if needed so we will be visable to people coming in the gate.
Entry and registration is from 9.00 am Friday ( if you can't get there Friday you will need to be in by 7.00am Saturday. For safety reasons no van movements Saturday and Sunday. Let them know on your booking form if you HAVE to leave Sunday and they will try to work around it for you.
The vans will need to be on display to be in the vintage van section, However I'm sure they won't mind you closing the gate if you wan't to check out activities. If you don't want to display your van you have the option of the camping area further around.
You can get your entry form by sending an email to Wintersun2team@gmail.com
It would be great if we can all get behind this event as Murwillumbah could certainly benefit from having Wintersun 2.0 as a regular event especially as we look like loosing our beloved Banana Festival and with the recent serious flooding.
Thanks Terry & Vicki
