One of the many things I love about this forum is seeing the clever things older van manufacturers did in caravans decades ago. In this case the shower and flip up bench top. For us mere mortals who don't instantly recognise VV's, who was the manufacturer and roughly what era?
Cheers Jim

Glad to see it went to a true Jennison enthusiast Chris and very quick off the mark as my cuz Sue and Andrew(akkeepsake) would have bid if we'd known it was up for sale again. It's done the full circle now as I originally bought it in vIctoria 5/6 yrs back. Very rare with the shower(the only one I've seen still around.) not to mention the jones dolly. How did you find that towing? I was most impressed when I towed it from Melbourne to home Jenno

It towed home very well till l ran over a truck load strap that blended in with the road and blew the dolly tyre I undid the spring and tied it up it put very little weight on the back of the car but felt totally different to tow currently working on resealing the back windows in as the rubber has dryed out and windows have fallen in. It is good to see how the inside was as it will help with the 14 foot with the table and blind's to get them right Cheer's chris

Bugger!!! I did not blow the tyre but did much the same thing returning from Melbourne with it . I saw a block of wood on the road, straddled it neatly with the car then thought oh s##t as the dolly wheel hit it dead centre. Something to remember when towing with a dolly! Your only consolation there being It would've been the original tyre so due for replacement anyway Regards Jenno

Good looking VV. It will come up a treat when finished.
Our 53 Bondwood also had a flip up top on the sink. Do you have the same problem as us? We have no water supply or tap to the sink.
I can't see any tap in your photo so I would be interested to know if there is water to the sink. Maybe a couple of photos with the top down etc will be helpful.

the van as I brought it home told window seals not very good took tin off and both windows had fallen in seals very had water stains inside knew there was a leak but when I took the edges of the alloy off to replace due to corrosion next to the windows found a lot more than I bargained for and kept removing alloy cladding to see how much has to be replaced but it is not as bad as I thought most is just straight forward replacement just more time than planed cheers for now will keep plodding on chris

Got my new screws only got 500 looks like I am going to be short a few now the fun starts changing the rusty ones out which is all of them. Nothing better to do after work it looks like a big job sanding around the screw head before fitting the new one to make painting easy when it comes to sanding the rest of the van cheers chris

Evening Chris ! Just looking through your resto post and thinking to myself , wow what a small world this VV community is !
I remember finding your van in the trading post add where it was just traded in and was advertised by the caravan dealer. My eyes lighting up like two Buick hubcaps!!.
I remember tracking down Geff Gill (Jennison) who I didn't know personally then, just from this forum and telling him about it .
I remember his silence over the phone and the events that followed to his purchasing it, not for himself but to pass it on to someone in the VV community who would treasure it and preserve it rather than it become a " too hard " project and sit in a shed deteriorating.
I remember checking out your van in person while visiting Jennison in ACT as he helped me purchase my first VV and striking up a friendship that in turn led me too my 1949 Bondwood Jennison Pathfinder !
I remember him selling the 17 footer to a VV enthusiast thinking this guy will do a fine job of restoring it but due to an expanding family didn't have the time to put into it so it sat around once again .
I remember you being the winning bidder on an eBay Jennison that I was so tempted to bid for like Jennison to save from the scrapheap and meeting you through this forum and a sense of relief that you were really passionate and had the ability to restore it !
I remember recently getting the call from Jennison that the beloved 17 footer had sold on eBay and being upset that I missed it, but finding out it was heading your way softened the blow !
Now it looks like yours, Jennisons and my Pathfinder will sit side by side each other at the next Nationals ! Great work so far mate!! Looking forward to many more " I remembers" !

Great stuff Chris it's looking great and the rate of progression of your work astounding. I've got Andrew turning the thumbscrews on me to complete our much discussed repaint of mine in time for the nats. The peer pressure of watching your great work unfold is adding to it! Jenno

Jenno Only a repaint you still have plenty of time to do it a little bit after work can get a lot done and if you don't like the color there is still spare time to re do it cheers chris

Jenno Pull your finger out Geff ! You have oodles of time and besides I'd hate you feel out of it sandwiched between two original Jennison paint schemes 😜

got some cream on the back now to wait for it to dry to fit windows before polishing the port side port hole boy what a big job after polishing the starboard port hole should have taken a photo before the other is the good one not perfect but a lot better than they were Richard said the grey areas were red so am painting the same red as the van is going to be as I found the original colors behind a trim now to wait for some more screws to arrive as used up the 500 and still a lot to go hate getting rusty old screws out will be working on glueing the lamenex back down while waiting cheers chris
