A huge thank to all the organisers and our friends. You have made myself and Peter feel very welcome.
Unfortunately Peter has only a couple of weeks left but loved seeing all the caravans. He now appreciates what ours will look like.
Thank you once again and I will be back soon.

Hi lovelies, Things have changed so much over the last few months with my husband sick and then passing. I am gradually building new habits to get through my days. I know people are thinking of my and it is much appreciated. So, After a good hiding from @koala, tooleyau and wildbrumby , I am getting back on track to continue to complete the caravan that myself and Peter started. These three lovelies and their partners care about my wellbeing and future and I words will never be enough to thank them. I will now continue to keep everyone up-to-date about the progression of the caravan and hope you enjoy the progress. The other day: cutting the cupboard door holes. I have since sanded and puttied the edges ready for the primer, today. Today: I am working on fixing the cupboard frame, then I will sand all three sides of the caravan where the cupboards go. Then prime all the other cupboard fronts. I have 3 x A4 pages of to-do jobs. Slowly, slowly with a few tears of sadness and achievement.

I'll be posting some pics later for the update of my van. For now, I remember seeing a post about someone cleaning/restoring an old hand pump tap. Here is a pic of mine. I have looked through the search, but unable to find it. Yes, I paid $40 bucks. Yay me! If you see it, could you please send me the link. I want to pull it apart and fix/clean mine. Thanks Kerri

Hi Kerri This might be what you are looking for:http://vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/10719/old-hand-pump-advice-needed Regardless, you can pull it apart without it anyway, Kerri, cos we all know you're very clever. 1. Undo the screw in the handle where the plunger is attached to the handle. 2. Down the plunger shaft you will see a narrow cross-hatched/serrated round part. Use multigrips to grab the serrated part and unscrew it. (goes for almost half an inch) 3. Below that serrated bit that you have just unscrewed, there is what looks like a nut. It is! Get a spanner to fit and unscrew it, and the whole lot will slide out. 4. At the bottom of the innards are some brass bits. At the bottom of those bits there should be what looks like a leather washer. That is generally the culprit if your pump wont work. You can remove that by unscrewing the round bit beneath the leather washer. Be careful, because inside that brass section is what looks a bit like an ordinary tap washer. Remember which direction it is pointing, because if you don't put it back the right way it won't work. 5. If that washer is kaput, you can buy them on ebay (eg here www.ebay.com.au/usr/acewater00) Just search for hand pump buckets. You will need to measure the inside diameter of the throat of where that brass bit goes as they are different. They're about $40 for a pair, but considering the bargain price you paid for the pump, still worthwhile having!

G'day kerri,
There used to be a comprehensive guide to refurbishing these pumps in the Techo section, but that thread seems to have disappeared. If anybody knows how to resurrect the thread, here are the details:
Apart from replacing the washers/seals in the pump, you also have to polish the two brass (copper?) balls and the metal seats they sit in. This will remove any build-up and allow the balls to sit snugly into their respective dish-shaped holders, giving a much better seal against backflow of water when the handle is pushed down, and will give better suction when the handle is pulled up.
Too bad the techo thread has disappeared...it was quite useful info.
cheers,
Al.

The Fynspray galley pump thread was accidentally deleted by Firefighter. He tried to get it back but unfortunately, once they're gone, they're gone! Now I know someone who knows a bit about the workings of these pumps, 🤔Perhaps the thread could be re-created. I'm actually having trouble getting the one in the Propert to prime. It worked perfectly in a bucket but not so now installed

SGTL, I had a similar problem with my pump on the Hunter Minor. I primed it a few times from the top "in-situ" and after that it worked well, even after standing for some months.

OMG! Where do I start. Time flies... I guess after going through enough grief (still am) I finally started the caravan with tooleyau. Here are some pics. Oh, the work that has to be done!!! 20180629_110706 by Kerri Insley, on Flickr I went to Northern NSW to check out some lino. Peter Taylor and his lovely wife went through their leftovers, but nothing was going to work unfortunately. 20180701_135607 by Kerri Insley, on Flickr I stripped this caravan of all it's trims, door frame and other things, including a clock. 20180701_114221 by Kerri Insley, on Flickr I nearly bought this new bed to put in the van but it was too heavy and wrong colour in real life. I needed baby blue not teal. I needed to get a round hole cut for my portable ceramic clock from the 1950's. It was the first thing that went in the van. How exciting. 20180725_115301 by Kerri Insley, on Flickr
