Righto folks, the gas? lamp inside my 50's Viscount bondwood has got me thinking. Has anyone got one of these up & running or are we all too scared we're going to burn the van down? I can find no information on them (mind you, I've been searching for about 10 mins ) I have talked to fuel lantern guru 'akeepsake', & while he doesn't have the knowledge required to run one, he thinks I should give it a go! I think mine is missing it's glass bowl & will require a mantle. If anyone has one they are willing to part with, please think of me. What would be really good, is a video of someone actually using one
The mantles were VERY fragile and the lights extremely noisy and hot and tended to flare a lot so the advise to remove and light somewhere other than inside a timber caravan is good :-) Lovely light however maybe a new bowl and a small smd led type light inside it ?

Thanks everyone, I really had no intention of using it, more like finding out how to make sure it is disconnected from the gas line! Still, would be interesting to see one in action somewhere in the world. A lot of early Australian vans had them so I assume they used them without gassing or burning the family to death
