Hi jailbarjuice where did you get that name from?
Thanks for your post, just emails the guy on olympics caravans ,found on humpty's listing
Thankyou again
actully this is not my van its my girlfriends, im looking for more info for her as she cannot,
the last few days looking on this site i'm actually thinking of buying it myself except my husband would have a heart attack?
i am a book collector have over 10,000, and got into records about 3 years ago have about 6,000, if i bought home a van he would flip 2 people in a large 4 brm house with a loft and he can't get anything in.
theres something about this site that actually is addictive i havent got any caravan books at this time that i know of, but will keep an eye out and let you know in the future and proceeds will go to this site for fees.
can anyone send me details on what books/mags to look out for?
regards vikki

The "Olympic Guru" is travelling Australia right now and indicated he would not be back till about Christmas time. From what I see of the trim & mouldings it as a late 60's possibly 70's van . If you want to try an email, try.... robertt@cn-newc.com.au.....he does have a mobile...0428850666. His name is Bob!..........and he will know everything about that van.....I have seen pictures in his portfolio. Try and have the chassis number available. It should be on the underside of the A frame

Hi Vicky, Dont ask JBJ where he got his name - but I will tell you -... its because he should be behind jail bars for making his alcoholic juice.! It was quite potent and at least Reddo, schultzy me and a few others can vouch for that!!! Thank goodness it wont be available at Coledale. ( look it up - you should get there! ;D ) If you are only new to Vintage Caravanning, then good luck! I now have 3 vans dunno what to do with them but I luv 'em. I should start on the books too .... regards earlee.

Hi Vikki I know nothing about the Olympic as unfortunately I am probably as new to this as you are. One word of warning... DON'T get into this vintage van stuff, it ought to come with a government health warning on it. It's totally compulsive I would say, you just don't realize it when you first look.... it seems so innocent! My own sad story is just one of a million that I feel sure have been told down the years and a prime case in example There I was just a few months ago, a sane, normal person. I was just looking for a van to stick out the back to house relations from South Africa that were coming to stay by me for a while. Any old van would do, as long as it had bedrooms and didn't leak. And then IT happened.... I found a vintage van, totally wrecked, needing more than a complete rebuild, refurbish and the like. It cost sooooo much money to purchase it and get it back to where I live (nearly 1200 dollars). But I had to have it, and believe me I am not one to spend money easily And this is coming from a woman with not only very little practical experience, but also from one who is going into hospital in just over 2 weeks time for a hip replacement operation. See I told you, pure madness. Why did I do it, well who can say, just seems to get under the skin and into the blood system... that's a point... I wonder if anything will show up in the blood tests I had done today On the reverse side though, there are compensations. You get to drop in on this site and talk to like-minded people, who I feel sure will turn into real good buddies over time. Over to you to make your own judgement ;D ;D ;D ;D

Sorry guys you haven,t put me off yet. I think maybe I have a little maddness about me too. We checked under the a frame , no numbers there, checked everywhere else to. my husband made his own larger 15 years ago, still have about 2 doz bottles left Its got a kick like a muule, I glass and you'd think you had ten. Most of the time just use it for beer batter, but sorry to say all the fish have moved away. can't find a good fishing hole anywhere in Victoria. I want a van ?, my husband wants a campervan, I think he will win. but thats OK, cause hes a great guy. just can't sleep in a tent the way we used too. Vikki ;D ;D ;D Thankyou for the replies

Hi again ;D anyone want a good story I also want to hear jailbarjuices one The LARGER story My brother a rather assorted fellow (probably should be in the same institution as jailbarjuice) when he was about 17 got really drunk and decided he wanted a tattoo his drunk mate decided to do it for him He wanted FOSTERS LAGER all the way up his lower arm in large letters he could not spell He got FOSTERS LARGER instead, over the next 25+ years got all over tatts to both arms to cover the mistake Now 25 years later I just recieved a phone call from an old friend, who is tracking my messages, just emailed me and said YOU ARE MORE LIKE YOUR BROTHER THAN YOU THINK YOU JUST WROTE LARGER not LAGER so whats that about madness being in your blood I have to admit it must be in mine, it has just dormant for the last 25 years vikki

Vikki, Just so happens AUST. POST has an exhibition running that shows the type of van used to provide it's services during the games. I don't know what make of van it is but somebody may....most likely custom built, but by who? See it @ www.auspost.com.au/philatelic/stamps/index.asp?link_id=7.24Cobber.
