As we have already looked at cleaning and polishing the aluminium, does anyone have any suggestions for the best way of (chemically, minimum abrasion) removing paint from the aluminium? Is there a particular paint stripper that is used on aluminium? I prefer not to abrade, as ideally I would like some sheen, as opposed to scoured a dull grey.

Methylene Chloride based strippers are Ok and don't damage the alloy! I'd use a high pressure water blaster to remove the losened paint. cheers
