Marvellous how quickly nature can reclaim its own. Bit of a shame though, I thought the changing colours on the mountain in the afternoon were a highlight of going to Queenstown. Trees are trees and not something they are short of in Tassie. Funny how your snapshots become historical after a while, I'd have taken a lot more of many things over the years if you had reaslised at the time how things were going to change.
I'm happy for you pass on my contact details to the new owner of the Velox if they need a hand with anything.
George

Launceston has kept a lot of the original facades, it's nice to go for a stroll through the city at night.
The Monkeys in the big pit at the Botanical gardens are fun to watch.

Haven`t been to Launy yet.But i can thoroughly recommend Salamanca/Hobart.Could easily spend a day or more just traipsing through town. And no traffic jams anywhere. Not even on the motorway.Traffic or little of flows along.Big time housing developments just as you`re entering Hobart from airport & leaving to go inland.Very good looking houses/estates too.

Hi Folks.Sorry that i wasn`t home but still stuck in Sydney!Yeah i know, bugger.Have had a mountain of paperwork to sort through & implement - new super/annuities/pension/bank etc.Between that, parting out a shed load of stuff from 50 years of collecting & realising that i also need to furnish the 3 bedrooms. Now have period dressers, bed heads/foot ends & new ensembles.I bought up here to save time sourcing in Tassie.I also copped a virulent chest infection & running 104 temp which stopped me in my tracks for the past two weeks. Thanks for the pics Ray.The workshop takes in the entire front weatherboard section where the 'Sold' signs are attached & beyond the driveway gate to the stone part. Then the lounge/dining/kitchen.Three bedrooms opposite side with toot etc.The rear of double garage (with brewery sign) leads through to landing/entrance & back garden.Single front gate beside garage also.As it happens the local mens shed have moved in next door in the ROAB building.Love the fact of the running stream along the bedrooms as its very soothing listening to it.Yep,slept there a few weeks ago when i collected the keys.Got a bit of 'bondwood' repairs to undertake too. Thanks also John. You guys should`ve taken pics of your vans/cars outside the place too. gordo

Hi Gordon. Not vanning this trip, doing a fly/drive/B and B style holiday. Have had 5 months on the road in the van last year, felt I deserved something simpler. Ray

OK,so next Friday & Saturday the removalists are dropping by with 2 x 20` containers to load. Then Monday morning taken to Chullora to be railed to Melbourne.Toll then take over to 'ferry cross the mersey' & into Q/town & unload.Within 2 weeks a 3rd container - same procedure but with me,the pooch & a vet doing a fly/drive to meet & unload.Excited & exhausted just thinking about it. gordo

Gday Murray.Thats what happens when you use a curtain liner. My stuff is being secured in proper containers by a highly respected company i`ve known personally since 1955. All secured with various sections either with a lock in false floor/walled off because of mother natures mood.As an example the Td (12` o/a) will be secured by floor fitted captures.Chocked & padded, then walled off.The remaining 8`with other stuff. In another container my 7`by 4` trailer (10` o/a)loaded up with 20,000+ nuts/bolts/washers/screws in respective metal drawers, same. Then a false floor over it & other stuff on that floor then walled off.Remaining area with whatever. gordo

Gday Ray.For starters: gordo ***** Not wanting any more holes in the roof this old wood burner is now gone.In situ is a gorgeous antique timber fireplace surround with mantle/mirror ex old hotel in Strahan against the iron. Also reduced the bricks to allow more open walk way.***** (Edit: 18/02/18)

Geez Gordo
Were the wood piles as big as the houses I saw last time in Tassie just for show or to frighten off the northerners?? Of course you won't need the fire after splitting the wood, seems to be how it works for me.
Had a chat with Roxy's new owner at SWR and she seems to be getting organised for the project.

Well I got back here Monday morning 12 hours later than expected. No thanks to Madonna airlines - you know the song,Like a v.....Slept in Tullamarine airport Sunday night. Another story. The removalists turned up Wednesday 11am & were finished unloading by 3pm.Went like clockwork. Turns out the 2 containers were shipped on Tolls own cargo ship not the Ferry. Got onto a local sparky & he newly wired up 3 bedrooms with lights & 2 double power points in each room/new kitchen/dining/porch lights/switches.400 bucks. Will implement 3 lounge lights/3 double power points & 2 double power points in kitchen when I finally move in for the same cost. Plus add smoke alarm. Can`t argue with that.Had a brilliant time meeting a swag of locals as I stayed at the Railway Hotel.Mine host Darren drives Villain,a Studie pick-up rat rod.Tying up a couple of loose ends here but seems end of the month should be the final trip. gordo
