I know this question has been done to death, but does anyone know where I may purchase Boomerang Laminex, in Australia, please? Just because I live on the beautiful mid north coast of new south does not mean that I would not travel far afield to buy some. Thank you for you interest Rod

Hi Rod . Unprocurable in OZ I believe. Geoff and Jude sourced some from US of A several years back. They could possibly help with suppliers?
Can't quite recall ,but do John and Annie have some in their 16'er?

hi rod we had our boomerang imported from the usa, it is called aqua matte but is listed now as being discontinued. formica only lists one colour these days, charcoal but wilsonart can supply 24 different styles. retrorenovation.com/2013/01/24/24-colors-of-boomerang-laminate-for-kitchen-counter-tops-formica-boomerang-but-much-much-more/we got ours through the local caringbah mr. plywood outlet, but unfortunately it has recently closed down. we were discussing the pattern with a sales person who said he couldn't help us, when a rep from laminex walked in and joined the conversation. long story short, he made a couple of phone calls and before we left he had ordered an 8'x 4' sheet for us and we were in business. with postage and insurance it ended up costing just a smidge under $1000 to bring it over, but we reckoned that it was worth it. (if we keep caravanning for 20 years it's only $50 a year which breaks down to less that $1 a week - cheap at half the price) anyhow, it seems that there is a bit of a resurgence of retro styles and a lot of the original boomerang colours are being reproduced, so it might end up much cheaper these days. hope you get what you're after, it does look good when it's down. geoff 'n jude

Hi Rod, We bought an old table that had the boomerang pattern and used it for the splash back and bench in our sunliner. That's another option, Cheers Julie

Hello caramel,
I ordered a sheet of laminate from Laminex yesterday, 3600mm x 1200mm for $390 using my ABN. I can collect it from the depot in my State. The Laminex site has a reasonable range of colours which suited my purpose as I wasn't able to justify spending much more considering my overall budget. That size sheet will do my tabletop, kitchen bench top, splashback which I am making slightly bigger than the original, the top for the drawers between my single beds and any other small applications.
Regards,
Bob

Today I found out, from the site that seashell mentioned, that a 10' x 4' sheet of boomerang pattern costs $895, which I am OK with except that the various colours only come in gloss, which I think might look a bit tacky. Anyone have gloss laminex in there van, please do not be offended, might look quite nice, but I am certainly unsure. Supplier was surprised at my request, in all his years, I was the first to ask for matte finish. Other standard laminates, which are matte, on his site are $595 per sheet with 8-12 weeks availability. So, whilst my need wasn't satisfied, I hope that the above helps someone else. The search continues Rod

i just noticed that heffron's will sell and deliver direct to australia, so at $US221 ($AU310) a sheet, you should get out of it for under $500 delivered, i reckon. click their home button for the email address. it's worth sending them an email if any of the designs suit you.

Hi All
Heffron's which sell the boomerang formica have an agent in Australia - A Moment in Time Retro Designs (http://retrospaces.com.au/) which is the site I mentioned earlier in the thread. Also worth noting, is that they sell the very hard to obtain nice edging for tables in many styles from Eagle Mouldings in the USA.
Cheers Seeshell

Thanks Geoff, saw those ones, particularly like the Butterscotch one, apart from the other bigger glacier boomerangs, but when looking at a whole sheet it looks to be a very busy pattern. Really need to see all these things in real life. What laminex we choose will determine the other colours in the van, curtains, cupboards etc. Would rather do it that way other than do the interior and THEN try and find a laminex. The retrospaces.com.au/ fellow did not appear to have any retro matte, but he did have the other standard laminates, $595. Do really appreciate everyone help, thank you Rod

hi rod boomerang is a fairly busy pattern but if you choose one where the print and the background are similar colours like the glaciers or the dungaree matte, they appear less busy. our aqua has the same pattern but the boomerangs are much less 'outspoken' because it has less contrast between the background and the print. geoff 'n jude

Thanks again Geoff. Sadly the "A Moment in Time Retro Designs (http://retrospaces.com.au/)" that seashell mentioned really are not geared to sell small quantities to the likes of the home handy man or vintage caravan restorers like our selves. In fact, we tend to be a big pain in his backside. Their business is really about selling hundreds of thousands of dollars worth to Architects, developers, and builders and they are not terribly interested in the likes of us. After a lengthy conversation with the owner, I could certainly see his point of view. Hope that the above helps others Rod

hi rod if i were you i'd forget about retro spaces altogether. if you and nettie really want some boomerang and have decided on your pattern, contact heffron's in the usa directly by email or phone and deal with them. www.heffrons.com/index.htmlthey do small orders (look at the testimonials, the first one being a mobile home) and they will ship worldwide. don't be tricked by the web pages, retro spaces (retro designs) uses the exact web pages (except for contact information) as heffrons, so if you go ahead with it, make sure you use the heffron's page for contact details, not retro designs. don't give up too easily. geoff 'n jude ps. i had a look on facebook and ebay and there were several sheets of aqua boomerang for sale in 2014. they didn't sell then so might still be available.

ps. i had a look on facebook there were several sheets of aqua boomerang for sale in 2014. they didn't sell then so might still be available. hi again rod here's the guy on facebook that was selling the aqua boomerang sheets in 2014. he works for a mob in usa called retrokc ( www.facebook.com/retrOKC/ - 7 september 2012) and i've just looked at their facebook page and these were first advertised in 2012, so if they still had some in 2014, they might still have some. click on the comments for mike brown - (very bottom of page). they didn't sell on ebay so it could be worth contacting him to see if he still has any. geoff 'n jude

G'day caramel & Geoff'nJude, In my post above I referred to "this mob" who were actually .....this mob = www.laminex.com.au/uploads/brochures/6.%20Laminex%20Boomerangy.pdfLaminex, right here in Australia. A couple of posts later mibosa said he had bought a 3600 X 1200 sheet from Laminex for $360 ? Have you checked them out Rod, are they no good, are they expensive, are the colours not to your liking, do they not answer the telephone, should I remove them from the restoration suppliers list ?? Hi cobber, Geoff n Jude, we won't give up mate. Too much blood, sweat and tears (and money) goes into the damn Sunliners. Yep, been to Laminex. Old mate must have bought his a while ago or have something that is pretty plain (no offence meant), because quote today was 1.2x3.6x1mm sheet = $642 +GST $25 for logistics+GST, rounding out to $733.70. That would be for a style that we would be compromising with. Rod Sadly the poor old Aussie $ is not fairing so well at the moment, but I will still inquire in USA. Give up, not bl... likely eh? .
