A little tip when buying toasters- Don't get them from America. They are a different voltage & behave more like a nuclear reactor than a toaster

Funny True story. Whilst on a V.V.Caravan run on the South coast quite a few years ago,a person no name mentioned plugged in their old toaster like one of yours. They blew the power supply to all our Vans. . We all seen the funny side to it after realizing who the culprit was.

The radioactive American toaster, but beautiful nonetheless! One I have inside for repairs.

Interesting that it may have been an export model (240V) as USofA uses 110V. Very nice though.

My toasters are presented in their natural habitat This is the Hecla Cat No T.4 650 in the War Surplus van This one is in Driftwood, doesn't have a brand name but has numbers underneath No 24/A This is the back up one in Driftwood 'Hotpoint'. Brand. This is a 'Hecla' in the Newcastle van Poor Ol '36 hasn't got any electricity , well not enough to heat up a toaster , so we have to make do with this contraption They all work at the moment but it might be smart to get some spare elements, from a place DC3TD told us about some time ago, ISTRA Elements 71 Cawarra Rd Caringbah NSW 9525-2935. (I suspect SGTL might be leading us the garden path with that GMS product, they don't appear to make elements anymore ?) Cobber.

I got the element from 'All Vintages Bazaar' in Echuca for $12. She had a number of them, NOS I guess. ?
