Hi SGTL, That's an interesting van you've posted the link for - in particular because of its unusually shaped front. I wonder who built it? I know it says Skyline, but Skyline mainly badge engineered other manufacturer's vans as far as I know. Another question for Hughdeani I reckon! (Hope he sees this. ) Don Ricardo

G'day Hughdeani and Kingswood308,
Thanks for your responses to my query.
I can see where you're coming from. The wheel arch is similar in shape to some Franklins around 1960 (although not before or after that), and there are quite a few Franklins with a similar shape below the front window. However, I can't think of any Franklins I've seen which have the front window shape slanted backward with the bulkhead over the window not being rounded but almost forming a 'verandah' over the window...quite unusual/uncommon styling. Not saying either of you are wrong, just that I can't recall seeing a Franklin with the same front styling on the forum before.
In terms of Franklin characteristics, the wheel arch suggests 1960, the bondwood sides and general shape anywhere from the late 50's to 1963, and the styling below the front window and the profile of the front aluminium cladding suggests 1965. Could it have been modified or restyled at some point do you think?

The roof pattern (inside) and the trademark shelf gives it away.
Cheers.

No it's a standard front,I have seen plenty over the years. Hi Kingswood308 and Hughdeani, A couple of helpful observations about the internal fittings there Kingswood308. And interesting to hear that as well, Hughdeani. Some of the large (and some of the small) van manufacturers produced so many styling variations that it's hard to get your head around them all! Little by little we're cataloguing them though. It helps having somebody around like you that was involved in the industry and has seen a lot of the variations over the years. Thanks to both of you for your comments. You identify 'em, I'll catalogue 'em! Don Ricardo
