Hi All, Just wanted to introduce my new van Lola to the site. I've been lurking around the site viewing various good info about the old Sunliners and missed a few sale oppurtunities. Luckily for me I found one on Gumtree around a week ago and managed to get in quick and secure the sale of Lola the 64 Sunliner. For now I've just got one pic from on the way home and my current plans for her are pretty simple. She needs all new window seals. I'm planning to setup a 12v system and put in a 3 way fridge plus some fresh curtains then she's off to explore Australia. I'll take some good photos of the interior and what not over the weekend. Any questions or if you happen to know any of the history of this van please let me know. Cheers, Patrick.

Hi Patrick and welcome to the forum! A great gumtree pickup you have there ! Well done ! I'm a bondwood man myself but there are plenty of people who love to scratch and enjoy the glass vans. They are very popular and seem to attract quite a following Bring on the pics and enjoy the journey! Cheers Andrew

Hi Patrick. Thanks again for the tip regarding the Olympic in QLD. I'm still awaiting some more photos from the seller. If you hear of any other Sunliners for sale, please let me know! Have you headed off on your trip around Australia yet? We've recently returned from a staggered six year trip, so I'm happy to live vicariously through your stories whilst I'm stuck at home. Cheers, Tim

Hi Tim, No worries, I've been keeping an eye on what the old Olympics are going for as I'd like to change out of the Lola into one one day but I'm too attached to her at the moment to sell. If i change my mind at some point I'll let you know. I've been pretty slack getting on here but so far she's been on a couple of short trips to Forster, Kiama and down south. I pretty well didn't use her all winter but instead started revamping her ready for a five week trip starting this weekend. So far I've ripped out the tiny 240V only fridge and installed a 12V 130L Indel compressor style fridge running off two 92AH AGM batteries. I've also ran a lead that connects to the car off an Anderson style plug and a Durst 20A smart charger for when its powered up. I also installed some shelves to make the tall cupboard a little more useful and managed to slip a king single in the place of the dinette for the trip as we like to eat outside anyhow. For a bit of shelter outside I just got a fold out gazebo and I've got a huge tarp and tent poles that I set up when were anywhere for more than a couple of days. I'd love to get my hands on an old style annex but they don't seem to come up here too often. I also pulled down the wheel bearings and regreased them for peace of mind. One thing I can't recommend enough. I was glad to see the previous owner had installed quality Timken bearings and all was in good order. Once I get back I'll try and upload some pics of the adventure but we plan to go from Sydney to Port Douglas taking our time with no real set agenda. Anyways onto the important stuff. Photos. Here’s the photos from her original ad. The seller kept the curtains which was a shame but I’ve made some new ones up. Lovely little bearings Cupboard with shelves Big bad battery New Fridge Hole where the old fridge used to live I haven’t built a new fascia to go around the fridge or new doors to cover the gap but I’ll get onto that when I get back from my trip. I’ve also got some Tassie Oak solid floorboards that I plan to make a new benchtop with. Any questions let me know. Cheers, Patrick.
