G'day Gilbert, Bpay is a method of electronic funds transfer where you can make a payment online/by phone giving the seller's numerical ID and a unique account number for the purchaser. If you haven't come across it, it is a payment method used extensively by utility providers, etc, with many thousands of customers each of whom has an account, eg for gas, electricity. It is an efficient payment method for both seller and purchaser in those circumstances. In this case, although the seller mentions Bpay in her advert and also mentioned it to you when you contacted her, I'm pretty sure she is referring to PayPal which the Ebuy listing states is the only method of payment. I doubt if the seller is registered for Bpay herself and would then go to the bother of assigning a unique account number to the purchaser of the van. More likely a bit of confusion over the two terms on her part... Don Ricardo

Hi akeepsake I asked her many questions she wouldn't let me phone her or pay cash on pick up wouldn't put up any more photos of rotted roof , I can't work out why cash on pick up wouldn't be the way to go I asked about draw bar wasn't sure if it had one ,I have sent her another message if she doesn't know much about van how does she know how much rot is in roof or sides.then all the years outside in the open wouldn't do van much good any way

Hi Gilbert and akeepsake. There is only one reason why she wants payment up front and not cash on pick up. If you pay by Bpay or however she wants payment and you get there and the van isnt as good as it looked you are committed to take it as she has your money. Cheers. Richard

I agree 100% vantoura and that's why they wouldn't let me pay cash on pick up or view the van.

Mmmm Agree Richard and Gilbert I'm going to give it a wide berth ! Coincidentally it's from the same area as the recent "bargain"Skyline that was thought to be dodgy! Shame was after another little 10 footer. One for each child!!!

If they won't let you inspect, then it is a scam. Stay away!

Personally........... I don't think this van looks to bad.
I'd guess an inexperienced seller, not aware what price a good plywood van can fetch, and not actually in possession of the van, and not realising people need to inspect these things before coughing up with the dough, or even making a bid.
If they will only accept PayPal.... which is what I suspect they mean instead of Bpay, (somebody should ask them) I would be asking if I could do the transaction at the time of pickup, awkward I know, but I reckon somebody who has not read the negative comments on this forum might pick up a bargain here.
DEFINITELY ! don't pay before seeing the van in the flesh.
Cobber.

She said to me BPay before pick up no cash on pick up being outside in the weather for that long a plywood van would deteriorate so fast

Check out the latest pics carefully ! The picture front on showing the drawbar also shows what looks to be a very rotted section of roof as the moulding has fallen off where it once was held and is hanging down! Shame really I think if you did cash on pickup you wouldn't part with it hence Bpay before!!!!

That's why she wants you to pay before pick up , because you have to take it once she has your money,

Like I said above... a very inexperienced seller who didn't realise old caravans are popular and attract a crowd... Cobber. But from the description they can identify a vintage bondwood van, a 15" Vanguard wheel, a strengthened drawbar, low voltage ceiling lights, a 21/4" hitch coupling, a factory fitted lift jack.... I agree this is not a scammer, but from the description they not clueless either and I'm pretty sure they are aware of the popularity of small vintage bondies. It appears that the seller is not allowing inspections because they don't have possession or control over visitor access? As for Paypal payment upfront, some items seem to attract serial bidders & lame buyers that fail to show up after winning an item. This equates to lost time and money for the seller. Maybe this seller has been burnt before and has wised up? Selling an item for a third party is risky because it's the seller that is contracted and is legally responsible and will cop any negatives that may arise. Bottom line is that looks like it could be a bit of a gamble, worst case scenario = rot ridden donor van, best case = restorable gem. If you don't like the odds, don't bid?
Cheers Asche

I think the issue here isn't that we think he/she is a scammer , it's that we can't really get an accurate idea of the real condition of what could be a real gem or a bondfire starter! I personally really like it and think it's got potential but as we all know with that kind of damage I'm sure the frames rotten Anyway do you think it's a Wayfarer?

Well my (token) bid has been blown away! Good 15" Vanguard wheels aren't all that easy to find these days but I'm not sure that I want to go any higher.

Van sold not to me wasn't worth the risk but being outside that long it would have to be rotted out in the roof
