Great pickup guys One of these just sold on eBay for around $150 this one would date around 1960 as it has the plastic pump handle . An easy fettle I suspect as one of the burners looks new!

Went to a clearing sale at Narrandera last week after some fencing and picked up a Maxie metho stove and a little single metho fuel stove with billy stand for $10! Pics soon I hope. Bought some molasses today to de-rust the latter. Only minor surface stuff

Decided to see what I had to do to get the double burner going. Got all the goochi instructions from akeepsake on what I would find when I pulled it apart .....then decided to fill it up and see if it worked first....and it does like a new one! Just a clean up required and she's cooking. Jenno

Thanks Cobber for uploading the pics.Thought i`d be smart & upgrade from an old D ell W indows X P to new computer running W indows 7 H ome Premium. What was i thinking. Its so convoluted compared to the old. This stove was designed to cater for between 15 to 40 personel by splitting the unit into 2 x 22.5kg back packs (last pic).It comes fully kitted out, ready to use with cutlery/ladle/butchers knife/s&p shakers etc.Square/oblong lidded saucepans & serving trays.Even a scrubbing brush & sharpening stone.Jerry can adapters, fuel line ready to connect & tool kit.Needs its own `van to tote about i think! gordo

Once you get the hang of Windows 7 , you'll find it a breeze. Just don't be tempted to upgrade to Windows 10, now that's complicated! I ditched it but the computer was never quite right afterwards so I quit completely & bought a Mac.

Gday SGTL. Doubt it very much. Will see if i can re-instate the XP. For one thing u/l pics here was a breeze. Btw,i also have a beaut Maxie single burner - upright 4" tall football shaped fuel pod with flat top/base one end joined to short upright fuel line which then leads underneath to burner at other end - metal legged base about 10"x 8" x 4"h.Also a Drew & Son 'En Route'-not a total showpiece, more for display. gordo

Couple additions i mentioned earlier post: (1)The Drew & Sons one has since been cleaned as good as can be considering its age. (2)The Maxie Single Burner.

Picked this metho stove up on ebay a few years ago. Followed instructions found on here & was pleasantly surprised as it went first go. Our 1947 homebuilt van came with a Coleman Bushman shellite stove. Paul had posted pics of it in another thread but I will repost one here. Instructions on these look a lot more fiddly & as it hasn't been used for 50 years, I will leave it's restoration for another day.

Hi Stovies, I thought I might 'fuel up' the conversation on this thread again with the following advert for the 'Demon Kerosene Stove' published in Broadbent's Official RACV Camping & Caravanning Guide, published c. 1938 (page 16): This is part of a larger extract posted by Franklin1 on 25 December 2007. I don't recall seeing any references to this particular stove before. Have any of you seen one? Not sure whether the name 'Demon' means it was a bit hard to handle! Note also the camping iron. Now there's another whole thread just begging to be started. My mother used to use a little fold up electric iron in the caravan. Dona Ricardo gave up on it because it was so small and ineffective, but I may have it somewhere if I dig around... Don Ricardo
