This is a fantastic opportunity to own a fully restored late 1960’s fiberglass EXPAND-A-VAN, the last version of this type of van. I have owned and enjoyed traveling in this van, it’s light and easy to maneuver, weighs around one tonne loaded to travel, comes complete with awning and sun blocker shade, all poles, ropes and sectional sulage hoses. The interior consists of two fold out double beds, gas fridge and stove, ceiling fan, 12volt lighting, 12months NSW rego, new tyre’s with electric brakes and a heavy duty axle, new bearings. This van is fully accessible unfolded a unique feature. This is a great van ready to travel and very rare indeed. [/URL
Contact Boblor on Mob: 0428 850 666, van can be viewed at South Maclean QLD (Brisbane area), all inclusions as per photo’s Priced to sell $11,500

Ray, both the dog AND Bob come with the van. The dog for security, and Bob so he can answer any CB radio calls.

Hi All,
I had a chat with Bob (Boblor) last night re: the age of our vans.
He has now interviewed the owner from Camperland & Camperman twice and after checking various paperwork etc has come to the realisation that the Fibreglass Expandavans were first produced in 1966 and finished in 1969. The last few of the 1969 vans produced were sold in 1970. All of the Fibreglass vans were produced by Helmsman Industries from Eildon in Victoria.
Of the 3 model variants less than 80 were produced in total.
Mine is the first model variant of which only 2 were made with the timber interior (neither Bob or I have come across the other one, so don't know whether it has still survived). Which means that mine is a 1966 not a 1968 as we originally thought.
Then there was the MkI variant and then the MkII Fully Fibreglass model which Bob's is. So Bob's would be a 1969. So this is a great vintage van that Bob has for sale. The price he is selling his van at is well below normal sale value as circumstances are forcing him to downsize - so grab yourself a bargain.
By the way Bob said that he has written up new information and will post that in DHL when he gets a chance.
Regards Di

Great work Di, good bit of history there on the Expand-a-van! I first saw one of these at the Mildura Nats in 2010, what a great concept! Very spacious (when folded out) yet easy to tow. Won't be long before it changes hands at that price Mark

While we are on the topic of expandavans, Uncle Bill in Kalgoorlie is no longer able to drive so wishes to sell his expandavan. I have no clear photo's & I don't really remember the condition of it. If anyone is interested enough, I can put you in touch with him. The photocopies of photos he sent me, can be seen at the bottom of page 1 here; vintagecaravans.proboards.com/thread/2060/expandavan-alexandra-noble-park-dandenongPlease remember that Kalgoorlie is in WA, Bill is elderly & not on the internet & I am in Victoria!

Hi All Thanks for your comments about this rare little van. It has been sold and is going to a yery good home (no not heaven), I am sure the new owners will cherish the van as I have, and I look forward to seeing it at some of our VV rallies. I still have a very nice Olympic 'Debonair' for sale, so check the .'thread'. Cheers boblor
