YWORRIE ! (Not a bad name for somebody looking for a name for their VV ) The 'flying Gordons' were a group of Trapeze artists who performed in the 1940s with the 'Holden Bros Circus' who were founded in 1892 in Melbourne. One of the Holden brothers apparently built the van and another painted it. Judging by the wrinkles on the front of the van I'm thinking it is ply covered with calico/ canvas. You can read about the van HERE and more about the Holden Bros. Circus and the Flying Gordons HERE I suspect the van was not actually 'converted for commercial purposes' apart from the sign writing.... it was the van they lived and toured in. Cobber.

Hi SGTL,
Great photo of the puppet show.
Any idea of the location? Judging by the buildings behind I'm guessing somewhere in Europe?

Hi SGTL, Yep, I can read Italian - well, I can with a bit of help from Google Translate anyway. Renato Fioravanti was obviously quite a notable Italian photographer, writer and arts administrator. All that the website tells me, but not where the photo was taken. My forum handle actually has Spanish rather than Italian roots though. Think Don Quixote and you'll get the picture. Don Ricardo - off to find a windmill

Hi Gents and Gentettes, Wasn't sure if this was the right place but... Purchased this old girl a few days ago sitting in a yard to give my oldest son some space and as she is already gutted I dont feel bad about making a few changes. Interior is 20 foot x 7'6" with a 6 foot headroom give or take, Im thinking 60's PMG van but as I havent had her towed home yet I havent looks for plates or painted over stickers yet. Any clues?

The construction seems very light IMO, must be strength in the way its packaged. BTW ALL the wiring will be pulled as its obviously a bad afterthought and I'll replace it with external flat pack conduit runs, J boxes and surface mount stuff and get it inspected when I get the sparky out to put in an external 15 amp feed.

Hi PMG, It's a Pathfinder, Didn't know they built commercial vans! It has the classic Pathfinder shape, and the tucking around of the metal at the base If you look in the Down History Lane section,I'm sure you will find your answers. Cheers hughdeani

Caravan adapted as an ABC mobile studio to be used for concerts presented by the ABC at army camps and other locations. Equipped with a recording unit and recording and pick-up amplifiers. Could also provide accommodation for one person. Cobber. Hi all, It's funny how you can look at a photo time and time again and miss some of the more obvious details... Cobber posted this photo quite a while ago, and some years previous to that on another thread as well, but it's only just seeped into my consciousness that the sign above the ABC van indicates that the photo was taken outside a caravan manufacturer's factory - and in addition, there's the second caravan behind the ABC van! If we can work out the manufacturer of the second van, that will tell us who built the ABC van. The van at the back has a very unusual stepped roof which we've seen on another caravan somewhere on the forum. Does anybody remember where??? Note also the unusual adjustable tow coupling. Something for the Tow Coupling thread Cobber? Don Ricardo

Cheers hughdeani Absolutely spot on ! Took her home yesterday evening on a permit with a mates F150 as TowJo and I have to say she looks HUGE on the road! The cap tarp that the previous owner wants back was removed to reveal a well made but torn roof tarp that had been buttoned over the top of the roof which I also removed so it didnt flap or come lose on the trip home. A curious beast indeed, Some pictures showing the model plates.
