Hi All. Was at the Cessnock swap meet last Saturday and my wife,Grumblebum, picked up an old egg beater to add to her old kitchen display thingies.I had a look at it and noticed it had stamped into it the following:
A Propert Product Made In Australia Pat Ball Drive 9033/32
It was called a "Swift Whip" which got me all excited.
I guess the patent number was issued in 1932 under patent number 9033.
Was wondering if this might be the same company that made the Propert caravans?
And speaking of caravans.............
Managed to finally meet Reddo and had a good look at "Matilda"as well while I was there.
And................. the swap table next to Reddo had a brass porthole on it for sale and Reddo just packed up and left it sitting there. Can you elighten us Reddo on why is this so?
Is there a big stash of portholes already in Reddoville?
Terry.

G'Day Terry. Have you convinced "Grumblebum" to let you work on the Globetrotter??? She seemed to be interested in the old van , so now is a good time to keep that enthusiasm on the boil. I know where i can get my hands on at least half a dozen brass portholes the same as the one next to my site at Cessnock. The problem with genuine ships portholes is they are made of heavy brass with heavy glass. 10kg+. never asked the bloke how much he wanted for it . He is a dealer that does all the antique fairs / swap meets etc and i would imagine it wouldnt be cheap You screw one of those to the left side of a ply/glass van and the first roundabout you go around will see the porthole and the whole side of your van torn out by centrifugal force. I have one alloy porthole from the "Reddos teardrop- the 20 year plan" alloy van. Still tossing up weather to use it on the TD or shout Matilda and extra "Eye". Anyway mate.... it was good to catch up with another V.Vanner and the rest of your crew. Regards Reddo

Hi All At least Toms brother was smart enough to whack a patent on his fold-a-van design. Pick up any old mag with his advert states "its patented so you cant build one". Just imagine if they had slapped a patent on all the bondwood designs. we in vint vanland would be in real trouble - 2 swift whips @ $1.00 ea ( garage sale) hanging in amongst the antique goodies in BBQ area at Reddoville. Reddo... How did that song go from the 70s TV show......"Their house is a museum.. when people come to see um... they really are a scree.um... the Adams family"

Reddo, if he was still building them today he would be prosecuted for false advertising. A patent does not stop one from buying a copy of the patent and building ONE for private use. Greg
