Reddo Can you tell me where you scored the taillights?? I have been searching for ages for something that fits the theme and am a bit like you with your mudguards where I have purchased and tried many different ones but still remain unhappy with the end result. Yours with the chrome surround look great - hope you don't have copyright. I also have gone with the green and cream paint and also have my water tap on the outside. Great minds think alike I guess. You have done a great job. Ken

GEEEEEE I don't know, a bloke doesn't check up the thread for 5 minutes, cos after all, it's a 20 year project, and next thing the Reddo bugger is a year older and has added final stripes to his Tardus (stands for travellin' on Tar and Dust). Wheresya been Ray! ? Yep, the company colours look great (haven't ya run outa that clearance auction paint yet Reddo???) But the gizmo's - man are they SIC! Despite my concerns watchin ya change guards as often as the queen does, they have come up just great. Take that proverbial bow, Reddo. You raise the bar every time you get eneeeebriated and even when ya restore/rebuild caravans, whether they be originals, or replicas from originals that end up lookin like originals (I know what I mean) Reckon you'd be a great canderdate for adopting Cobber's "van to good home" just to make sure it don't get blown up! Congrats' Reddo on all counts Ray

Hi All Thanks for the words of encouragement. much appreciated and gives me the boost i need to make it over the finishline. Here is a few more pictures of odds and ends in and around the van. ken .....the lights on the gaurds are standard hella units i picked up at a swap meet for $2 the pair. The tailights are also hella . i got the 2 tails tops and 2 indicators at bathurst swap for $8. All i did with the tailights was mount them on a bit of polished aluminium that i cut to suit them. If you are chasing new ones there is a mob in Hiedelburg Vic called "Antique tyres" that also sell lights and other accessories. Google them and have a look at thier catalogue This a shot taken of the cupboards inside . finished roughing them in on sunday. 90% of the doors and shelves are from a couple of olsd wardrobes i knocked apart saving all the sheets of ply and hinges. Sorry about the glare... have you ever tried taking pichas inside a TD. cupboards either side has 3 shelves for his and her bits and pieces. Top 2 doors come of an old grammaphone I found on a council clean up junk pile and have steel mesh like a meat safe in the middle of the panels..Gunna use this shelf for "flotsem and jettsom", maps, books hats etc Bottom shelf hinges down and serves as a drinks tray. This shelf will hold the Colour Telly, DVD, circuit breakers, terminal strips etc, etc, battery charger and phone charger as well as a "mini bar"..... ;D The kitchen area has been kept to the old van style.hatch has a 12volt oyster light fitting as well as a 240volt battern holder light... still gotta come up with a lamp shade... might use an old bed pan or something ;D scored three cupboard vents off some old kitchen cupboards that son luke is pulling out of a rental property up the road from here. Brown wooden thing in the middle is...... The electrical switchboard. big porcelain fuse block does nothing . wires are taped off behind the panel. the power point works and the extra tumbler switch is for the 12v light. Suppose ya wandering what the handle on the right side is for... well ......i might be old now that i am 53 but i still like a bit of "rock and roll" every now and again.. as well as a bit of JW too Cobber. specially during happy 3 hours. So rather than hack another hole in the kitchen i stuck it in behind the powerboard. The 2 wooden saquares back in the kitchen photo have 6" doof doof speakers behind them. had to come up with something more 'riginal lookin than those black mesh plastic speaker covers up on the roof i used an old piano hinge i found on a thrown out wine bar. . i done what Kaybee told me to do and used a 2" wide strip of ruber under the hinge to waterproof the kitchen. But... i didnt like the look of the 50 screws holding it all together. so i got a local canvas mob to make up a scolloped canvas strip to cover it. Attached it with a bit of J mould to serve as a gutter to catch water running down the back towards the hinge. Canvas cost $25 to buy and make. J mould is $10.80 @ 4 metres from aluminium wholesalers. If ya look closely ya can see the radio ariel sticking up on the left side just above the hinge. El cheapo push down jobby that will be replaced shortly with a motorised ariel i got at morriset swap for $5... yes it does work. fitted a 7 pin flat plug and tried the tailights and blinkers ... all good. just gotta jerk the Harley tailight ( $10 All Holden day Swap) wire and the side clearance lights wires around under the van and hook them up to finish the outside lights for rego. Gotta put a safety chain on and fit the 2 new tubes i got from antique tyre supplies the other day. Once that is done i will strip all the cupboard doors off and take it around for a weighbridge ticket and rego before adding a second water tank on top of.. and a spare wheel under.. the drawbar. Mind is already starting to drift onto other erotic thoughts .. like starting on the old TD.... NOoooooooooooooooo you silly buggers... i dont mean the old teardrop ... i mean "Tooheys Draught" Anywho... thats it for now. Its all head down bum up in "the shed of Invention"...

replica teardrops are spoilt when,....... the hatch is opened and we see microwave ovens, modern kettles toasters, powerpoints / switches etc. Unlike a caravan which has an enclosed interior, open teardrop hatches are for the world to see ...... I luv the way Reddo has carefully used period fittings fixtures & features to replicate the 1940's / 50's ........a job well done Its alot harder to 'recreate a period' than to just fit modern fixtures & fittings. Hi All I will reply to all starting from shortest to tallest Will Yep the temptation to blab must have been almost overwelming for you. But as you say the "WILL to live" has outweighed the " WILL to make a quick buck" from someone elses invention. or pick up a few million from the "womans weekly" or "the daily telegraph". Your strength of verbal restraint is to be commended Mr Bailey. After all its only money and friendship is worth more than a kings ransom However .....to ensure there is no future attempts by "virtically challenged undesireables" at profiteering from the ideas that come from my twisted mind @ the shed of invention the following has been gazzetted. Public Notice: Be it known to all: All ideas ( good or garbage) that are concieved in the Reddo- "shed of Invention" are automatically covered by OZ patent. Any imposter ( especially midgets) considering replicating any of these ideas. Shall in the first instance contact me and offer gifts of cash , alcohol or a bloody big slice of the "profit pie" before being granted permission to reproduce and market for financial gain and profit said ideas under patent licence held by "cratehead of the east". Terry... working on the "kerosene to 'lectricity catalytic converter " for TV etc as we speak. A few minor setbacks and flashovers.... The roofing contractors arrive today to replace the roof on the blackened and scorched shed of invention . Doctor said that bandages can come off later this week and a few metres of skin grafts should see me lookin like elephant man again!!! EPA have almost cleaned up the neighbourhood with only minor lead and uranium decontamination work to be completed in the school playground However....Persistance will pay off in the long run. The police have granted me a restricted "messing about with dangerous goods licence"... I think i am allowed to mix farts with spa water. Ray.. I ..and I alone can understand wot ya sayink. doughnt wurry abote harsh wurdz and ridiqoole from pieple who live on the W.A dark side of the earth.... ya get that way from eatin' crows and red sand. Firefighter Jeff. Thanks for the update on the lights. I could have bought all the lights locally at 10 times the cost of what i got them for at swapmeets. The problem with building TDs... well this one anyway...is that ya never seem to know what ya gunna do next ....until ya start doin it. Does this make sense. ?? Ideas change by the minute. Its not like ya go back to the designers plans and read his measurements and then wander off and order the bits. Bugger that... all ya doin is reproducing someone elses rubber stamp. . sorta like working on a production line assembling cars, or glueing an airfix model plane together. Most of the inspiration for this TD come from my "head vacum "as well as council clean up rubbish heaps and the local tip, stuff that was being thrown out by relos, others snapped up from garage sales and swap meets on the off chance i might need them. swap meets with their endless supply of vintage bits and pieces are a great source for budding van restorers. Dont start me on the cons of getting stuff off "eyou will paybay". Ya can end up paying more for a worn out / broken secondhand part than ya would for a brand new one in the shop next door to your house. OK ebay has a place in this world but just not too often at the reddo place. I have probably 2 dozen old lights, tailights, campbells lights etc that i didnt use on this project. some donated by Col and ray as raffle prizes at Coledale. (i actually stepped over some really expensive prizes at the raffle draw to collect the bits and pieces for the TD.) , Most of the lights have nicks and scratches or slight rust spots but all this adds to the ellusion of the van looking 40 years older than it actually is.... As Mark said "Its alot harder to 'recreate a period' than to just fit modern fixtures & fittings. Having said all that i reckon anyone that comes across a supplier of authentic bits and pieces should definitely add the info in the memrobilla or technical section for future reference by this forums members Mark.... Thanks for the acknowledgement . Much appreciated. I know this site is dedicated first and foremost to the rescue and restoration of vans made pre 1970. But in defence of what i and am trying to do with the TD i offer this philosophy if we take this to "the 'enth degree' it would mean that the minute we laid a paintbrush on, or replaced a panel on an old van we would be altering from original and therefore we would struggle to have any vintage vans that could be seen as original. Vans get new chassis in the interest of road safety. New panels in the interest of waterproofing and preservation etc, etc. It is for all these reasons that i feel that any attempt to replicate an old van or carry out improvements in safety etc should be applauded . providing that the finsished item is a reasonable faithfull restoration of replication of the original...... not a bloody "tab" or "reo" etc. To this end ..The reason the TD has turned out the way it has is because i have used 90% .. well maybe not 90% but a lot of recycled odds and ends from the 30s, 40s and 50s. I am hiding all the late model / lifes little luxuries wherever possible and those that will be exposed when the kitchen is in use will be as the Kaybees, veedub nut and others have done with thier TD restorations ... that is...use period appliances wherever possible. I draw the line at metho/ kero stoves . i will be using lpg fed from a bottle hidden in the bottom right cupboard in the kitchen for cooking and on the rare occassion kero lamps ( saving the sparks in the 12v battery) for lighting if i get tangled up with happy hour and forget to get tea over and done with before it gets dark . Hope i havent been too outspoken here fellas . I do really have a love for vintage vans i think i have proven that with the work done on "Matilda" and the recent 1000 mile round trip to rescue the the late 40s TD which will be getting a faithfull to original overhaul... not a full resto but an overhaul. The rat van idea has been shelved.......well... temporarily . There is still a bit of hot rodder/ rebel left in me yet. Reddo

Well Reddo, you have raised a subject that I think has no answer. Whether to restore, remanufacture, repair, renovate or modify a van becomes each individuals decision. I have seen the work put in to restore an original teardrop which in the end had a new chassis to replace the wooden one, new kitchen, new axle, new tyres, new guards, new wiring, new lights and new paint which left me thinking why not just build one using new materials but remaining sympathetic to the original design. I believe that my teardrop substantially remains faithful to the original design when you think that every teardrop was different and incorporated different ideas from the builder. Yes I have a microwave which is hidden away but it proved difficult to hide a chest type modern fridge so I just had to do the best I could whilst remaining functional. The whole construction is one of compromise. The other concern you have with a new build is that it must comply with modern ADR's, gas installation and 240 volt electrical installation requirements so these must be taken into account when new building any van or trailer. I am happy with what I have which looks just the ticket behind the 37 Chev. but I also can appreciate that others may have a different opinion and I respect that. I can also appreciate what others have achieved with restoration of a van and will admire your work when I get to meet up with you someday. You are welcome to use my gas stove when you can't get your metho or kero stove to work, I will even offer you a cold beer from my electric fridge when you run out of ice in your original cooler. Ken

G'day ken. As i said before i hope i havent been too outspoken about old /v/ new/v/ replica/v/ restored/v/modified vans. Dont ever take me too seriously old mate. there is no right or wrongs in this hobby. Truth is it doesnt matter a rats.. as long as we are enjoying our hobby. I wont be using metho stoves although they can be tamed and work well ... just a little dangerous at times. I will be using a PORTABLE gas cooker. so wont have to worry about ADR rules. Only installation issues is that it will be strapped in place in the bottom of a vented cupboard. no permanent gas lines etc. As for electrical i am not to sure on ADR requirements there?? i think any requirements to do with van wiring would fall under AS 3000 - electrical wiring rules. I have used multi strand double insulated 3 core flex through out the van for the 240volt wiring. Also will have mod con 3 way fridge hiding under tarp in the back of the ute while on tour for those stubbies. people tend to overlook whats going on in and around the towcar while they are gawking at the van. so hopefully i wont get accused of "Cheating"... If i do i will bribe the whistleblower with a cold beer. I used a bar fridge in the back of the landcruiser each night on a powered site when we went to morgan last year. ideal for freezing things down again that had started to thaw out in the ice chest while travelling during the day. The real test comes at Coledale when you have no powered site for 3 days. It pays to follow belindas instructions on keeping things cold for 2 or 3 days without access to 240 volts . Can cheat with a three way fridge in the annexe. But the "police " on kerosine alley coledale will blow the whistle on you Wildy. No mudflaps on mudgaurds here mate. Nor will there be whitewalls . 17" tyres are bloody expensive without trying to by 17" whitewalls. Hmmmmm could always paint them on ... or bolt on 13" or 14" holden wheels . Still need to work out what to do in front of the gaurds to hide the mounting screws. might be polished timber. might be aluminium. Depends on whats at the dump next time i am out there. Cheers fellas.

Hey Reddo, I am never serious - I think I have been on this site long enough to figure out that you are anything but serious. Mate, if you want to plant a palm tree on the roof of your van that is fine by me, just leave a spot in the shade for me so that we can have a beer and a laugh. On the 240 volt thing, you are supposed to use double pole switching and have it installed by a licenced electrician. I haven't put it to the test at rego time but just to be sure I will have the power plugs removed at the time of inspection. By the way, you can still buy those bakelite switches and plugs like the ones in your van new at lighting shops. They are trendy now for new houses.

I just gotta say one thing about all this debating about VV restorations vs repair vs replicating - GET A LIFE!!! We all see things differently, and provided we remain true to the concept that we will muck around with pre 1970 vintage stuff, that's all that's required. After all, we are into V vanning to have FUN, not get hung up about remaining faithful to the nth degree about everything in a van. One person chooses to have a bar fridge for convenience, the other rips the bar fridge out and re-instals an ice-box. Whichever way it goes, it is that person's way of lving out his dream of vintage vanning. Let's not kid ourselves and think that our fathers/grandfathers had this "thing" about being true to the original at the expense of comforts/fun - of course they modified their vans - as much as they could afford to in their time and as much as the technology existed. After all, why were so many of these vans sold as shells only and outfitted by the owners? Even more so, what about all those home-built vans? I bet half of them didn't even have a plan to work with!!! I would rather hear a story about where you went for the weekend and have pics to show us what fun you had, than being here on the internet debating about what ends up being personal taste/interpretation. We seem to focus on the group gatherings and post pics etc for ages about those events. Why aren't we also posting pics and stories of the things we did in between times? Is it because we aren't doing anything? The person who does seem to do other things in between times is Reddo, and he shares his stories with us. What about the rest of youse/us. Get out there, even if it's only camping in the back yard with the kids, or on a farmer's paddock with a hole in the ground for a dunny and a muddy creek for a bathroom. HERE ENDETH THE LESSON AMEN RAY

Hidey ho thar fellow vint van fruitcakes. Well the time has cometh... actually 4 months short of one year since i kicked off with this project and ( almost) finished 19 years and 4 months earlier than i predicted ( the 20 year plan remember) Yep.. i have just got off the "tellingbone" to the local inspection station thingy person. The main man there is cool with me bringing around "the reddo AJS" ( AJS Assembled from Junk and Scrap) for a rego inspection during my lunch break today. Hopefully all will go smoothly and i will shout you all a drink this arvo if it passes... i forecasting that you will see and the old 'Olden Yoot towing the Reddo AJS special somewhere on the nations highway network over easter. wish me luck and honk and wave if ya spot me . Also got a bit of interesting info about conditional historic trailer rego that might be of interest to all of you that are in a car club and have a few vans... more later today ... stay tuned. The Old Unmoderated Reddo ( Abbrev: T.O.U.R ) ;D

Ah Tinnie my good man. No longer do i have to keep you in suspenders ;D Looky, looky here... Bloody bewdy mate.. eh. ( translation for overseas guests: isnt that terrific and wanderfull !!!) Waddya (Trans: what do you) think about that old mate. (my old friend) TWO number plates. Well... actually one is false. But the little silver and purple plate bolted to the old harley davidson tailight is the real McCoy( genuine). yep it means i can legally tow the van with old Eddy The Ute ( utility truck or pickup)and go and do donuts ( circlework) on the local footy ( football) ground to celebrate..... Cops( police) might not be too impressed but hey... I gotta ( I have got to ) let off steam somewhere and show the world the fruits of my laboiur Zippity Doo Daa .. I say Zippity Bloody Doo da.. Shes a fully fledge historic 1954 trailer with caravan body... No arguements i have the rego papers to prove it.. strangely enough the Vin number is the same as my license number.. what a bloody fluke aye..... i never even noticed the numbers on the draw bar when i was restoring it. ;D ;D ;D. . .I posted a post.. nasty stutter i am developing there aye ... about the "How to go about getting a vint van on historic rego in NSW" its under historic trailer rego in NSW".... what a coincidence finding it there aye people can save a excreta load of money if they are a member of a car/bus/bike club and apply for hysterical rego. I think full NSW rego is about $160 on the big heavy vans with brakes etc .... Vint rego is $16. Now ya dont have to be bloody Einstien ( extremely smart professor .. see also "reddo" in Oxford dictionary) to work out thats a HUGE saving in any natives currency Something else i found in amongst the old bits i used to build the TD was the mudgaurd brackets had some really unuasual markings on them. took a bit of archeoligist type chipping away at the corrosion to bring em back ta new.... But have a go at 'em now (Trans: please have a look now)..... Honestly... i couldnt believe my own meat pies ( my eyes) when i unearthed the script.. It says "1934- Reddos TD"... Gee whizz and golly gosh... That makes my TD the oldest Van on the forum ;D ;D ;D Waddya reckon Fossil me old china plate ( trans: what is your opinion of all this my old good friend Cobber). Amazing, truely amazing... Arent i a lucky basta ... ummm .....(trans: arent i the fortunate one ) I am totally pi.........off. Umm I am extremely annoyed that it is raining here in Newcastle on good Friday. I was looking forward to doin a few hotlaps around Newy beach with the old van in tow. I have been practicing in the shed of invention doin a few donuts. Lost it a coupla times ( i crashed on the odd occassion) . I think there is about three sheets of fibro left on the shed. Bloody difficult trying to do a 40 point turn withou smacking into the walls ever now and again. gunna ( going to) pray ( there is a first time for everything) for some good weather tomorrow. I will try and find a grouse ( picturesq) spot to get a few happy snaps ( photographs) of EDDY and the TD together. Still working on a christening . I think the TD might end up with another kangaroo on the back or maybe the Australian flag with a longneck ( large bottle of beer) superimposed over it. Sorry Tinnie i wont be painting a tinnie on the back... unless they make them out of timber its not an option ;D Cheers all reddo .. The incontenant dog ...keeping every post clean... squirt squirt... sniff sniff.. squirt squirt... sniff sniff ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Gee Whiz Reddo - What a rip snorter of a teardrop You have done an absolutely excellent job - and the stars must have been with you to find the chassis number was the same as your drivers licence number.! I would just like to pick you up on one thing - Cobbers Van is the third oldest on the forum, your teardrop is the second oldest on the forum, and lo and behold - my old lantern van is the oldest. So bad luck old mate - back to the drawing board or should i say, back to the shed of more inventions! Remember we are all friends and competition doesn't exist! Here's the undeniable proof ; ;D ;D ;D

Dang... and darn you Earlee. I knew i should have planted a 1930 newspaper in the cupboards of the TD. Ah well the next van i rebiuld will have the ten commandments chiselled in stone tucked away behind the fridge. Gunna plant an old suit in the wardrobe with "J.Christ" written in texta on the collar . Will be able to claim the van as being built in 1 B.C . I hate cheats ... dont you Reddo.......

Hiya there kiddies. just had a week off work ... and spent it in a 7'x4' timber box fitting out and painting its interior. it is times like this i wish i was as tall .. as "Will the Gnome" Must have got in and otta those little TD doors about 500 times... wheres the pencil??...its on the bench.. havta get out again ..oooooo bugger. wheres the screw driver ( sorry cobber phillips head used inside this TD)..... oooo bugger .. havta get out again........ over and bloody over again. Anyway after much cussing and swearing. hammering of fingernails, snorting and spilling of paint, wire jurking, knob fiddling( ), carpet laying etc, etc. i am 99% finished in there. Still got roller blindsand fly screens to go on the windows. Question: how does one install a horizontal roller blind on the roof window. ?? just another engineering hurdle to get over in the shed of invention. Heres a few piccies. I think it was Col and Kris that once made comment... "ever tried taking photos inside a TD"... Dang near impossible to get everything in the picture. rear cupboards long doors either side have three shelves behind them 'his and hers"... Uummm left side hers.. bras , paints, tops, pants, shorts, dresses etc Right side is mine.... 3 shelves all tall enough to hold a carton of longnecks each ;D forward planning always pays off The round gizzmo in the fold down lower door is a battery operated clock. It is made by jayco caravans but i did a bit of twiddling in the shed of invention .. pulled the chrome bezel off , removed the glass and fitted a "reddo" sticker over the "jayco" sign... coooooooollllll . The top two doors are off an old stereo cabinet. steel mesh gauze in centres. the colour telly and DVD player are gunna live up there out of the public eye. lookin in at the front cupboards. Got bored with the three tone colour job so i played around with a bit of cedar stain on the ply. The old bed lamp came off an old bedhead. ( well duh reddo where else to old bedlamps come from) .. Again kerbside goodies being recycled. The lamp is a bayonet cap 40watt clear lamp. looks very retro when shes sparked up. The 2 round lamps on the side with cut glass lenses are those that i won at coledale. 12 volt. i think Ray Rohem donated them... thanks mate they have found a comfy home i fitted an old power point that Col and Kris handed me while we where on tour. again thanks .. kaybees. there is a ton of storage space up top in the overhead console. i bought two metres of marine carpet ( Bunnings $30 a metre). no matter how i worked out the cuts i always managed to be just that bit too short. so i left out the bit where the pillows will go. mightplay around with some more stained timber and stck a couple of horse shoes on there just above our heads for good luck Bit hard to see but down below the cupboards at the rear our old mate Elvis has finally found a resting place across the foot of the bed. Gunna wear my "blue suede sox" when i go to bed so i dont break the glass in the picture frame while me n the missus are practicing some "horizontal folkdancing" ( uh oh.. sexual references.... better watch myself eh!!there are two moderator types out there lurkin now ;D ;D). Ahem where was i..... So thats about it for now. still got flyscreens, curtains and roller blinds to sort out but shes definitely liveable/ useable now... weeeell it will be when the paint fumes are evicted and the matteress installed. Hmmmm still gotta come up with a name too .. Oh bye the way Eddy the ute is sick . he is laid up in the "Reddo Hospital of Mechanical Operations" not too sure wots up with the old bugger yet. i think he is suffering from "underpowerosis" He sneezed the other night and blew his bonnet clean off and the radiator is still in orbit somewhere . I have covered him in blankets to sabilise him and i am gunna yank he's gizzards out tonight. Maybe a new heart and lungs will make him feel better. Have bought a hotted up 'kingyburnereroffererra" 186 for him. gotta go ... Reddoctor of medicine ...........part time half baked caravan bilda too .

Hi Reddo Maybe I can teach the master a few tricks afterall. To put a curtain or flyscreen on a roof hatch or other difficult places you can use velcroe. Think of the way the windows on a tent can be rolled up and held with a couple of ties. Fasten one side permanently and just sew some velcroe around the edges to hold it in place when closed. Presto!!! Roll it up and tie it when you want it opened.

We have just repaired the flyscreens in the Atlantic and opted for flexible magnetic strip rather than Velcro. It is less noisy (I hate that "rrrrriiiiip...." sound that Velcro makes) and doesn't keep catching on your socks or jumper or everything else. The strip is self-adhesive and comes in a pair of rolls, one with a "North" orientation and the other a "South".
In the original installation, a timber bead held the mesh in place on two sides and the other two edges were covered with cloth tape. A loop at the "free" corner held the screen flat (sort of).
What we've done is keep the wooden beads, replace the cloth tape with a "North" magnetic strip and put "South" magnetic strip on the window frame. The self-adhesive glue was OK for locating the tape, but it needed a couple of small tacks to keep it in place on the window frame and contact cement to firmly attach it to the fly mesh. A strip of cloth tape on the inside surface of the mesh hides the contact cement and makes the installation look more original.
The flyscreens are now really mosquito-proof. Once I get organised with the camera and Photobucket I'll post thes instructions plus some photos on the "technical" thread.
If anyone would like to get a couple of metres of the stuff from us I'll put it in the van for the Munmorah weekend. It comes in an enormous roll but we only needed about three metres of each strip.

Comin on real good Reddo. Those cabin lites look real schmick. As an alternative to a roller blind for the roof hatch, what about a shutter type of blind - painted up to look real old??? Sorta reminds ya of the old Queenslander external shutter then, only horizontal!! Belinda, those magnetic tapes sound rather useful - are they available at retail outlets??? WHat sort of weight could they hold? Am thinking of an alternative for the curtain rods on the Propert. WOuld they hold the curtain up? Ray
