Well today was almost l like Christmas as I lugged out a huge parcel from the Jenno to put under the tree but being so close to the big day I could wait no longer! With a sneaky grin I unwrapped it to find a pristine original annex and the coast was clear to put it up at a mates place and pull it down and put it under the the tree before anyone found out!!! Poles were from another old annex and I had to cut a couple of inches off them to fit but it all went well The unique feature of this annex is it was made wider than the norm (2,4m) to accomodate the old Buick and because of this it has a pole just near the door that provides ample head space and keeps the door from smacking into the roof ! Sides clip up and it doubles as an awning The annex doesn't have a makers label but is extremely well made and very practical ! The Marconi track worked well with no sticking . I am chuffed with this bit of kit .... Now back under the tree!!!!!

That's a really nice bit of gear to have akeepsake. I hope in the morning it hasn't turned into a BIG lump of COAL with you being so naughty, and putting the evidence on line for even Santa to find. Hopefully he's too busy to check the Forum tonight.

George Giday George Santa unlike me will be way to busy to check the forum, besides I don't think he owns a vintage caravan, Infact I've never seen one hooked up to the sleigh?? Merry Christmas!

Well believe it or not it's been two years to the day since we dragged the Jenno out of the shed at Bachuus Marsh where it had been hiding for the last 44 years!! "Jenno" is almost finished bar some minor interior touch ups and cushion coverings so to celebrate I took two of the girls and my 4 nephews from the big smoke (Syd) to Longford on the banks of the Maquarie River . The kids loved it and played in the van most of the time . I must say it's great to be out and about and using the van ....that's what they're made for at the end of the day ! I have another 10' bondy to start but it'll have to wait till after summer! Happy new year and stay safe wherever you may be!! Cheers Andrew

If you squint really hard while looking at this photo you'd swear the tow car was a black Buick

G'day Akeepsake,
The Jennison looks truly fantastic in that last photo you posted. So elegant! It could easily the van used for the Jenison publicity shots all those decades ago.
Excellent restoration!

G'day Akeepsake, The Jennison looks truly fantastic in that last photo you posted. So elegant! It could easily the van used for the Jenison publicity shots all those decades ago. Excellent restoration! Don Ricardo Thanks Richard I think she is very photogenic ! The resto isn't quite finished yet but almost there! Just a few small things to do and upholstery . I have hunted high and low and have come to the conclusion that there really must not have been many Jennisons made both Bondwood and Ali as they are so rare I know of only 5 Ali vans found ( one beyond repair) and no other bondwood Jennisons apart from mine . I wish I could find production numbers but my guess is after ww2 bondwoods were only made from 47 -51 which in a four year period production numbers would have to be at least 50 a year This would mean at least 250+ were made before Ali took over?? Mine having the serial Number of 8549/14 being #85 in 49 and 14' long If this was the 85th van built since late 1947 that sort of works with my theory however if it was the 85th 14footer or the 85th made that year there should be stacks around. I think I'm on the money with the theory that only around 250 was made.... However if mine was #85 built and was made late 1949 then and production started in 47 then only around 30 a year were made which makes around 150 in total??? A lot of speculation I know but would appreciate anyone's thoughts on the matter. BTW a guy in Adelaide a while back who used to have a caravan business was advertising to buy pre 1950 Jennison Pathfinders I rang him in interest and he was starting a museum . He hadn't had any takers but told me he traded 1 bondwood Jennison along while ago at his business but that was it! More Tassie tigers have been seen than Bondwood Jennos!!!!

Lucky to be the custodian of a fantastic bit of caravan history ! Hi akeepsake I have spent several evenings catching up on this restoration, which without a doubt is one of the best I have seen, as Sutcac said, & the description by Don Ricardo of your van as "Elegant" pretty well sums it up. The paint job makes me envious, especially the crisp lines around the flash around the perimeter, I did get too much bleed on my masking, but got advice from a painter for future success (hopefully). I will re-read the bits of your painting process & type of paint used, and brush/roller/spray?? What really got my attention is the special rounded corners feature of your van, it makes it stand out even more, also the way you sealed the edges with fibreglass tape & resin, something I feel I will be doing on the Don 133, I am right up to that decision at this moment, the original "pinked Tape" & super seam cement is the other option. No doubt you will get a lot of satisfaction with what you have done so well, & fun using it with your great family. Hopefully there are no complications with your eye Andrew, I always thought all you could get from hitting a nail in a piece of timber, was a blunt saw blade, so will be taking more care myself. Cheers, Ron

Cheers, Ron Giday Ron and thanks so much for your comments! Your story on finding the family Don would be my favourite forum story hands down! What are the chances?! My Grandparents early forties van would be awesome sitting in the shed right now unfortunately when doing some digging with the family about it I found out it ended up in a "bond"fire at a camp sight and my uncle was the one who did it!! Please feel free to give me a holla if you want to chat about painting etc Being my first Reno I was learning on the go Espesially with the fibreglass but happy with how it turned out! On the Eye front just waiting for a slot to appear on the waiting list to get an op to get it sorted, the outlook looks promising so will be good to have two eyes again! Remember to wear those safety glasses VV renos are a dangerous business ! Cheers Andrew

Quickly becoming an arty little town, we recently purchased an Alpaca rug & a woollen rug from the store opposite the bottom pub, both made in Launceston at the old Woollen Mill. Apparently part of the mill has been resurrected. Oh did I mention Stephenson"s cream honey!!!!!!

I knew we should have gone to Deloraine. We stayed at Bicheno and although it was lovely, it was also very wet. Setting up and packing up in the rain is not my idea of fun. We got back to Hobart and they hadn't had a drop of rain!
