Hi all, Hopefully this time I have got the photo upload right! This is Chrystal. I bought her on ebay the other day and we gingerly drove her to her new home. There is a bit of work to be done to be properly roadworthy I think! Any ideas what year the van is?

hi Marshy. looks like you've got a project there. Jailbar Juice ( dennis) put a good assessment/ rule of thumb of what was built about when on one of the posts a while back i think. Might have been on his "Purdon" post. I think it is pretty safe to say anything after 1956 had aluminium windows. Although there was probably a few van companies that hung onto timber windows until maybe 1960 or so. Also 13" wheels with the smaller stud pattern than FX/FJ came out in late 1956 on the FE Holdens.
hope this helps Reddo

Was sitting in the van last night eating fish and chips (mother's day treat) wondering if I have bitten off more than I can chew with Chrystal. But seeing the transformation of some of the vans on this forum has been quite inspiring. It will definately be a long term project but I reckon a fun one. Hubby is happy to help me but points out that the motorbike and the Kombi are further up in the restoration line. The body needs a fair bit of work. The interior is pretty good, power works and fridge and stove are ok. The cushions are in great nick. In the meantime my 2 year old thinks it is a great cubby house. I shall post more pics in the next few days.

Retro1, Thanks for the above water repair link and for your time today. Awesome job you've done there. Have just been reading through the 'My Castle Caravan' pages and will be referencing them a lot when I get underway with Chrystal. Thanks again for your advise. Cheers Marshy74

Not a problem, good to see it has finally gone to a great couple. As I said if you need any help in getting her on the road give me a call or just pop round for a coffee and a chat or vice versa, ;D Cheers retro1
