G’day All, Got the hang of this photo bucket thing (thanks to Jim’s Instructions!) These photos are of the van I will be picking up this weekend!!!!! It is the van I found for 61dodge (he thought that it was too big a restoration job) Being the curious sort of guy I am, I went to have a closer look anyway. All lower edges and front panel are rotted, roof and back are OK (I think). When the door was opened the waft of possible 1950’s air gushed out. The interior has been perfectly preserved (From what I could see through all the …stuff) I just had to have it! When I brought the photos home, my wife Jacqui (MWJ) was suitably enthusiastic (up to this point she had only seen the outside and was very unimpressed). Now it is time for everyone to play our favourite game of “pick my date” We think it might be about ’56 ish due to cushion covering and colors. Can’t find a makers mark on it. It rolls on series 1 Standard Vanguard wheels 16”. Overall size:14’ long 6’8” wide. Isn’t she a little beauty! Oh! And the price was definitely right! The woman who owned it just wants her carport back and didn’t want any money for it. She was worried about how much it might cost us to get it home to our place. What a nice lady! She has given us some leads to chase up its history so we will get back to you on that. Regards All, Andrew

Andrew, have a look at pics of our van, it's very similar to yours, look at page 8 of members photos (Carapark Gays Vans) the van that looks like yours is a 1957 Carapark Cardman, if you think it looks close, I can give you more details, pics etc. Good luck with it. Cheers, Gary

G’day all. Haven’t been on for a while and trying to do p/bucket is a bit taxing, not being too literet on the computer. Well I rolled the old girl home behind the 1.8lt hilux. Very long trip. 4hrs to do 235km. It was bloody windy to say the least. When I went into a head wind it was 55kph flat stick and when I got a tail wind the thing pushed me up to 94kph when I wasn’t looking at the speedo. Bit of a foul smell in the cab then. All the nuts and coupling came undone nicely. She was running 550/16’s. I pumped up the original tyres and they are still up now but did not roll it home on them. As the photos show I killed 2 birds with one stone when I stopped the loose front from flapping and tied the tail lights on as well. Allumvan, here are some tidy shots of the inside. Unfortunately I don’t have an ice chest but I have my eye on one. JBJ and Carapark the van has similar qualities to both vans but I think it is a home made job but very well made. Apart from the front lifting and rotting down the front the rest of the van is very solid and it’s bloody high. It must be 8’ cos I’m 6’ when you look in the photos. Well I reckon that’s your lot for now. Bye all. Andrew

Looks like a nice pick up Andrew, that tow home is always fun ay, I took a chance with our Carapark & towed it home on it's own tyres, mind you it had 3 sets of wheels for varying terrain It looks good, like the bed frame and the unusual wheel arch, lucky you've still got the mattresses and a nice interior. Ours is pretty tall too, we had to take the wheels off & drag it through the garage Good luck with it & keep us posted.

G'day Carapark, I've got her stored at a mates place with our Franklin and I don't expect to touch it for a couple of months because I'm doing up the teardrop at home in the back yard, so that has priorityat the moment. ( And the finances) It is in a shed so it's out of the weather. For ease we are now referring to it as " The Dunkeld ", being the place that I towed it home from. Regards Andrew
