Hi to all those we met at the Australia Day Vintage Car and Caravan Show!
We were happy to be so well received by you all even though our ‘Gladys’ is not strictly a Caravan.
Regretfully, we have to let dear ‘Gladys’ go. We’ve done a reality check and realize that whist ever she is not under cover, she will wither and die. Gladys has been garaged for most of her long life but was kicked out of home when her loving owner passed away last year. We took her under our wings, brushed her off, bought her a new radiator, gave her a complete check up and put her back on the road.
As far as we can tell ‘Gladys’ is a late 1950’s to early 60’s style caravan built from a kit and fitted on to a 1975 Datsun Homer (with a Toyota Corona 2 litre engine).
She has her original gas fridge and stove, both in working order. Amongst her many features are original seat covers, beautifully painted throughout, magnificent windows all round, sleeps 3 and loads of cupboard space.
The Datsun Homer itself is a four gear old dear that will sit on 80 to 100ks happily whilst enjoying the attention she’s getting from onlookers as she slowly passes them by!
We bought ‘Gladys’ and her ‘Homer’ on a whim. We just fell in love with her and couldn’t resist her ‘vibe’. Now we believe that it is in Gladys’ best interests to let her go to someone who will take good care of her and keep her under cover.
We thought you might like to see her before she finds a new home. It has been great to find this site, meet some of you and know that there are people out there who love this vintage lifestyle.
We live in Coledale and will be down to visit when you come to our local caravan park in October.
Cheers Jen and Amanda (for Gladys)
