Onya Kaybee.
It never ceases to amaze me how people stumble onto these old treasures. love those portholes. Your castle sign is made very similar to the perspex red letters on a white perspex base used on my "fairway". My son suggested drilling a few holes in behind the letters and running 12 volt lamps to illuminate the red letters at night..... would look like a neon sign at an old roadside diner.
Went to a garage sale last saturday. picked up three old canvas deck chairs. she wanted $3 each. i gave here a $10 note and she handed me the chairs and $9.00 change ....3 chairs for a buck!! Gotta be happy with that .
Good luck with the resto. Reddo

Another great find Kaybee Don't suppose that the aluminium cover original ply and had some of the windows changed??? Don't really know much about these vans. Cheers and congrats Ray

great discovery kaybee. amazing they keep turning up! and with portholes! The interior looks in excellent condition. The sign just tops it off. Reddo's idea of backlights is excellent. What drivetrain is in the FJ? earlee

What an excellent find It looks to be in great condition. Under the jockey wheel should be the chassis number( that approx where mine is).The legs on mine had the leather strap but I changed them to make life easier by putting in modern wind-ups. It may also be older than you say and that someone has clad it with alloy sheeting and maybe the old windows replaced with new ones. The inside was the same colour as mine was originally. The glass is well etched isn't it? Well I'm glad it found you and you it. I'll post some info on Castle Caravans later tonight. I only assume mine is 1957 because I can't find anything to state it is older or younger. There is a picture in the 1957 caravan magazine and the model you have is a called a" Deluxe".

Scoot 6 cwt is near enough to: 305 kg's (304.814) using the (UK) long ton system (1 cwt = 112 lbs) Or 272 kg's (272.155) if you use the American short ton system (1 cwt = 100 lbs) Log this website into your favourites Scoot, You'll find it handy.. www.onlineconversion.com

G'day Jim Its not my fault if the "sales lady" didn't pay attention in the maths class. Lemme see 3 guzinta 10 ummmmm 3.333 times sooooooo... 3 chairs @ $3 ea = $9 with $1 change ....Yup got it right.... not bad eh , and i evonne rech for me calkaulatora . I dun it all in ma head Jim. I realised what she had done when i got to the car and loaded the chairs in. i have searched the world wide web and i cannot find anywhere that gives a true valuation of what 3 X 30 year old secondhand canvas deck chairs covered in cockroach and mouse poo as well as 30 years of crud and shed dust are worth .. I would imagine that $1.00 is a fair price considering that the seller mentioned that everything that didnt sell on the day was going to the local tip that afternoon . So given the rapid rate of depreciation from $3 ea in the morning to "zilch and garbage tip" in the arvo. I feel i have paid a fair price of $1 ea mid morning ;D Reddo

Thanks for that info Jim. I was in grade four when they changed from imperial to metric, so I think in stone and pounds, feet and inches and kilometres and litres. I guess it was the natural learning progression at school.
Jailbar thanks for that , once again the forum has come to my rescue and by the time it gets here Maybe the weather will have cooled off a bit for me to go back to working on the van. At the moment its 930 and the national geographic temperature guage tells me its 35 .

Celsius is another name for Centigrade so 35 celc is 35 centigrade, or in old terms 95 Fahrenheit , just another pleasant summer's day. LOL Greg
