Some great pics there folks - looks like it's all good!! Keep them up! Hey sutcac, last time I looked at an atlas, their home was hardly in Qld, so show us the adoption papers that the smiles' are now Qlanders!! Good to see too that you've finally "come out" and declared your church allegiance with a personalised number plate ;D ;D ;D ;D Enjoy yourselves and best wishes to you all. BTW, 1954homemade Di, did you ever get the mismatched hubcaps sorted??? Just remembered that when I noticed your car. Ray

Hi all, Sue and I have just returned home from the display day in Cowra. What a great day it was .Beautiful weather and some great vans and tow cars. Unfortunatley we were only able to take our van over for the display and come home again but it was terrific to be part of it if only for a day. The organizers have done a great job and i can tell you it was very hard to come home. It was good to put some faces to names, great people. Just a word of warning if you are near firefighter when he is behind the wheel DO NOT stand behind him. Lucky no damage was done to the car. Cheers Sharpie

Definately looks like a fun trip...! I think Penny's getting itchy feet... er, wheels?! Thanks for the photos/inspiration.
Hi Halps, that looks suspiciously like a Kombi in your avatar. Do you tow with it? When I started looking for a van to go behind mine I had trouble even trying to find how much weight they could tow with.... and more modern vans seem to be "lightweight" at 700kgs+. Going for a vintage van... designed to go behind old cars... was definately an inspired decision, as I love Penny, my Propert Folding Caravan. And we haven't even been away anywhere yet....

Hi Sharpie, Good to see your rig out today, together with the other vans and cars people brought down to show. There was a huge number of people looking at each of the vehicles on display, and many admiring comments. It was a top day all up! Just to correct the record, it wasn't Firefighter who entertained the masses with his backing skills. No names, no pack drill. Just don't want Firefighter gaining an undeserved reputation! I'm pretty certain he wasn't even within cooee when it happened, and possibly doesn't know that anyone was demonstrating trick driving today, even now! Don Ricardo

OK so now I am here, Mum and Dad are busy chatting to some other Vintage Van owners and I have discovered mobile broadband and the password for Mum's laptop!! How dumb are they to use my name as the password?? Well after a long journey here, over 700km and a night in Wagga Wagga that was cold enough to make my draw bar shrink, we finally made it to Cowra, and boy did we arrive in style. The nice council man opened the road closed barrier for me and in I came scattering pedestrians left and right. Craig the park owner escorted me for a full lap of the park and then to my site. You should have seen all the lovely vans I went past. Even got a few winks from the ladies as I passed by!! So I am now on my site, directly opposite Milly May a very beautiful 21 foot Olympic tandem. What is an old van to do, here is me, only 12 foot 9 inches, and madly in love with Milly May at 21 foot?? Am I out of my league here. They do say that size doesn't matter, but I slightly intimidated by such a big girl!! Anyway if that doesn't work out for me, There is also a love pink Viscount, Vicky is her name, owned by none other than Lisa of the Vintage Caravan Magazine. I bet she is well connected with lots of lovely ladies. And that pink is soooo cute. ;D ;D ;D Actually - word has it that Vicky went up on a hoist and got a wire brush below, and some new silver undies!! WOuld love to see those Vicky. ;D ;D ;D Maybe I can date them both!! So at the end of the first day I am slightly confused, intimidated and not sure what to do. It is many years since I have seen so many vans in one place, I am sure they all reckon I am a handsome van, but what to do. Still there are lots of days left and Mum and Dad are out tomorrow so I can have a better look around! Better go before Mum and Dad get back. See ya round. Curtis.

Penny61 (Vanessa), I have a 2L and it struggles to tow the fully packed Capricorn with scooters, games, clothes, towels etc for the five of us. However, I am currently building a teardrop and that should be no trouble...now back to more pictures and stories from the nationals. I want to hear whether Reddo is keeping people up late or Sutcac's are sweating everytime they pass a school on the way. You guys don't know what you are missing back in the ho-hum suburbs... Warm Regards, HALPS

Hi curtis Love your post too, don't be intimidated by the ladies I'm sure they're all very nice Have you discovered a digital camera to go with the moble broadband and laptop??? Would love to see some photos of your time in Cowra. halps.... five people in a teardrop??! My sister (the Kombi person in the family) wanted me to get one of those... I showed her pictures of Penny Propert and she said it was "ugly" and teardrops were "cuter".... That's a Hippie for you. Vanessa

Righto fans - Mum and Dad are at some auction, where there is a lot of noise, so they won't notice if I borrow Mum's laptop again. Thanks for the idea Vanessa about the camera - sneaked Mums Cannon before lucky it is auto focus, would be hard to adjust with my draw bar!! First up here is a photo of me at the free site we stayed at out of Wagga Wagga. Like I said, cold enough to make my draw bar shrink, but check out my butt in this photo. Love my new "straight through" axle thanks Dad!! Here is a tree that Mum and Dad found. Makes my 6' 3" Dad look kinda small I reckon. The only problem with the place we stayed was the MONSTER lurking over the hill. What the hell is that thing anyway?!?!?! Anyway we made it to Cowra and that "THING" didn't come and eat me during the night. So yesterday I mentioned Milly May and Vicky, well I have been chatting to them both, and I think they like me. I did get a photo of them today while Mum and Dad were out. Here is Milly May: She is absolutely beautiful, but weighs TWICE as much as me. Which I find a little intimidating, although she is really nice to me. So here is Vicky. All that pink made my hatch pop!! Had to sneak in another photo of ME!! ;D ;D ;D But that isn't all - last night I met Miss Dorothy. Oh My Goodness - she is a honey. I am IN LOVE!! Now I really not sure what do do, who to date, or who to ask to the next nationals.... Oh crap here comes Mum and Dad - will post some more photos tomorrow!! See ya all Curtis

Ray Hi Ray, As you know there are quite a few forum members that live south of the Qld border, but they come along and join in with the rest of us at the SEQ events and help make those weekends into fantastic trips with lots of great memories. So just like Sutcac, I also class them all as Q'landers and would love to adopt every one of them. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I suppose now that you have moved down to VIC from QLD, people will now start referring to you as a Victorian Yes I did get the mismatched hubcaps sorted all ok, thanks. That was almost 3 years ago - doesn't time fly. Luv Di
