Hiya Kingys I can see i am gunna have to get a truck license ( and a few hundred thousand driving k's under my belt) before i do "The big lap"" Apart from truck driving i am not too sure what else in the way of work would be on offer over in that sort of country.. Now that i have seen your front "lawn" near your van i am ditching my mowing service. ;D ;D ;D ;D The locos look very similar to what we build here ion Newcastle. also do a bit of refurbishment on some of the older jobbies too... This sucker would get the EH up an movin'.... ;D Looks like you are having a ball.. even if you are at work a lot of the time... Enjoy the experience guys Regards Reddo

Hi Gang, Gordon, the camera we use is an old Kodak.....5+ years old, one of the old bulky ones outa K Mart. I'm happy with the quality of photos and it was'nt expensive. We bought a pocket one, which was over $300 and it was terrible, so fatty gets used. Don Ricardo, don't worry, i'll adapt to the EH ;D......was only just thinking how good it would be to be back on the road Gotta earn some more $ first. We are actually stuck here for a while because it's to hot and windy to travel, bugger all travellers up this way now, they've all headed south. One other option would be to truck the van and car down to Perth as a back load........thats not cheating is it ;D ;D Reddo, Makes you wonder why BHP can't build loco's here instead of buying overseas maybe we can't keep up with the demand As for employment over here, the wharf allways wants forklift drivers, crane drivers, front end loaders drivers, labourers etc etc .....it involves shift work, BUT they pay BIG money - as for truck drivers they can't get anyone to live/stay here, they advertise in NZ would you believe.......heaps of kiwis here. Also accomadation is a huge problem.........there is none. Like every one here says........''I'm only here for the money, ya would'nt live here''. The park where we stay has NO tourists, during the day it's so quite, cos' everyone's at work or sleeping off a night shift. Yeah and give the lawn mowing a miss synthetic lawn sales would be a beter option ;D Kingy

Hi Gang, been very slack with updates i know, excuse this time is that i used all my GB's in the first week of the month ........so have been laying low We left Pt Hedland a week before Christmas.........BUT not in the EH and van , as mentioned before, they were to hitch a ride with one of the guys i was working with in Hedland, after all ....he was heading our way for the Christmas break From Hedland Trucks usually take the inland road to Perth. With not a great deal to see along the way , we thought it a good chance to hitch a ride.......besides it was hot and windy - not much fun. 1700 Klm's later they arrive in Perth, safe and sound.......and for a price you would'nt believe We travelled down in the old camry we bought in Hedland.......having a second car has been very handy at times, especially while i was working. We stopped for a few hours sleep on the way down ;D Think we've all seen enough of this Will post our stay in Perth tomorrow.........Cheers Kingy & Mez

Hi All, back with more........Prior to arriving in Perth, members Dave & Pat ''Loveshack'' - whom we'd caught up with at Mildura, Broom & Barn Hill - rang and invited us to call in at their home north of Perth......which we did, and stayed for Christmas & New Year ;D. Thanks Dave & Pat, can't thank you enough for your hospitallity - especially inviting us for Christmas with your family......and what a spread ;D. Just hope one day we can do the same for you Guy's Dave and Pat also showed us the sights of Perth & Freemantle, we took in a couple of trips - even took the train into Perth on one occasion. Perth would have to be our favourite city now, clean, tidy, well laid out and very easy to get around. Enjoyed both trips into ''the city'' very much. Freemantle blew me away, loved it, if your into boating, Freemantle will do it for you. The place is a hive of activity, with plenty to see and do. Some shots of Perth and ''Freo'' If you like your fish and chips, go to Freo ;D Friends of Dave and Pats taking it easy at the marina, invited us aboard Dave organised a BBQ for us easterners to catch up with a few members from the west. Forum members, Nobles garage - Tucky 29 - Mark Taylor - Us and of coarse Dave & Pat made for great afternoon. As allways, it's good to put faces to names. Thanks again Dave and Pat All good things come to an end, time to pack up and head south - stay tuned Kingy & Mez

G'day Maurie, yeah been real happy with the EH's behavior over the last 2 years.....come April. I've had no mech. probs. except for a seized wheel cyl., not long after leaving. The 186 has been in since '88 - still uses no oil and pulls the van with ease.........but it's getting a little tied overall , stay tuned for an update on this As for tyres, we left with a new set.......soon due for another , the extra weight in the rear and having the van on wears the rears a lot quicker than normally. They were rotated about 7-8 months ago, and will last probably another 2 months. This will give them a life of around 30, 000 k's.........we've done around 27000k's You'll not regret a trip in the humpy when it comes around Maurie.........it's a true adventure, but be prepared for a few interuptions from curious onlookers ;D ;D Hhmmm.....Six pages short of Daggsey's effort ya reckon . best we stay out here a litle longer and try for seven ;D ;D Kingy & Mez

Hi All, The tour continues........after staying at Daggsey's and Carrots place for three weeks we headed off towards the coast then down south for a looky see at what was about. Here's a few shots Stayed at a BIG park while in Busselton, the parks spread over three blocks, and is across the road from this Busselton's claim to fame.......the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere The jetty is nearly 2 klms long, and has a right hand bend in it. Many tourists visits daily, jetty has a well documented history for all to see. Jetty can be seen here along the horizon Then it off towards Margaret River & Augusta Stayed at Margaret River for a couple of days........if your into winery's, this area is a MUST........we're not ;D Next was Augusta & Cape Leeuwin where it was VERY windy, lighthouse at cape Leeuwin has a constant flow of tourists all day.........well worth a look It's also where these two oceans meet Then it was time to go bush........in my element here ;D ;D Stayed at Alexandra Bridge for two nights, it's on the Blackwood River, $6 a head/night and a top spot Time to head back to Daggsey's to say our good by's, but not before stopping off at Fonty's Pool van park for a couple of nights. Interesting story about this park, the ''pool'' is spring fed, MANY years ago it was dammed to form the pool.....the bottom was concreted , diving board added among other things - instant swimming hole. Trying doing that today These days with the well kept grounds, it makes for a great stopover Back soon The kingy's

G'day Kingys, Thanks for some more great pics of your travels. The colours are great - the blue of the sky, and the sea is just wonderful. And the van park at Fonty's Pool - what a lovely, lovely place! Are you heading down to Esperance on the next part of your trip? That's an amazing place to see as well. The colours there are just as startling. Continue to enjoy the trip, and keep posting the pics. We're all enjoying the journey with you. Don Ricardo

Thanks everyone for your response of the latest updates.....makes it worthwhile knowing you enjoy it as we do See you noticed Daggsey's handywork Bob & Jacqui....well spotted ;D We decided on naming our van after our other dog that unfortunatley had to be put down while passing through Charters Towers Our Gertie Thanks again for that Daggsey.......AND a BIG thankyou to yourself and Carrots for making our stay as enjoyable as it was, Looking forward to catching up again in the future. While at Bridgetown it was decided to give the EH a transplant as the engine while still running strong, it was becoming a little noisy.....particularly at the top end. The engine had been in for 23 years, so for peace of mind we decided on a newy Daggsey just happened to have this in stock So it was trailered off to Perth for a FULL rebuild Pretty much stock, a little head work, different cam......better suited for towing, and extractors Sorta looks an original 179........but wont fool everyone ;D We also slotted in another crash box (and new clutch\pressure plate) as the other had been jumping outa top.......got hold of a ''condition unknown'' one for $120.......Beeaauuttiiffull So mechanically i'll feel a lot more at ease taking on any long distances........maybe across the Nullabor, who knows ......you'll havta stay tuned ;D Kingy & Mez

stock ........yeah right ............ya can't fool me Mr King ...........I recall doing 120 mph down Hester Road in a certain FC fitted with that so called stock engine, and one Mr Mad Dagg at the wheel ;D ;D The big block looks sweeeeet all prettied up in original detail sitting in the EH ...........nice when you pull into a caravan park, and a grey nomad asked to have a look under the bonnet...... all is as it should be .......alot more satisfying than having to disclose a V6 sitting in there .......or worse still ...... a fuel injected Black motor ;D ;D ;D ;D Mark

Trust me Mark, it's ''sorta'' stock, like i said ;D ;D........Same guy did the job as in ''Mad Dagg's'' FC........Hope he did'nt fit any aftermarket ''Go Bits'' - The box wont handle it Seriously though, it's made a BIG difference.........a lot more responsive, not to mention the extra power - Very Happy ;D Kingy
