Now that is something different. i wouldn't extend the draw bar. i think the idea is that the van has a "V" nose to allow a little bit of lock when turning. the turning circle could be improved by bashing in the corners of the landrover . Or Tow it with a boat tailed Bugatti. ;D The front reminds me of the old Leyland reever or Chieftain trucks. Anyway mate . congratulations on a truely unique find. the water pump is certainly different. have you weighed it yet ..... looks heavy. Reddo - East side ( and much wetter side at the moment) of Oz

My first thought when I saw the front of it was "DArth Vader"
Maybe you could paint it black!

It weighs over two ton!!! Our Landrover is a 1958, 109',Deisel..........still with original engine and gear box. Well as you can imagine, it struggles to tow the caravan. So we had to go and buy the recovery truck to transport Nomad and Landy!!!! The caravan is a show stopper everywhere we go. Everyone wants to look at it. it would have an even more ominous aura if I painted it black and replaced the two little windows at the front (it's eyes) with red glass!!!!

G'Day mclay 2 TONNES Geeeeezzz not only would the old series 1 larry landy have trouble getting it up and moving I would be terrified when it came time to bring the show to a stop.... WWWHHHHoooooooaaaa!!! The wheels look like early ford prefect. i seen a set at Kempsey NSW swap meet last weekend and they look very similar. I mention leyland trucks on my first reply. Perhaps you should start looking around for something like that to tow it with. Come to think of it they wouldnt have much more grunt than the old landrover. keep them photos coming ... we luv 'em. Reddo from the far side of the planet. I see the latest star wars is about to hit the big screen so we will be seeing plenty of darth vader.

G'Day Reddo, Being female, I act on impulse.......so I bought the Nomad without worrying about how I was going to haul it around the country!!! So then I had to buy the Ford Cargo recovery truck, which works fairly well. It certainly turns heads when passing through sleepy Yorkshire towns!!! Don't think anyone has seen anything like it for a long time!! I'll keep posting piccies as the restoration moves along!!! How much do you think it will cost to bring it to Australia for a holiday?? Maybe I'll turn up at one of the events out there!!! ;D

Geeez mclay "Acted on impulse and brought a caravan". I wish my missus would choose things like caravans when she goes shopping. How long is the ford cargo? you could always take the axle from under tha van and set the van up on the truck as a motorhome ...... Naaaa, didn't think that idea would appeal to you.
As for bringing it to australia for a holiday. i am sure we would all love to see you and the van make it over here. How about setting it up as a houseboat on a couple of pontoons . stick the diesel motor out of the ford under the bed down the back and sail on over. al la Captain Cook.
Seriuosly though, we love your van and we do hope that you keep us up to date with the restoration.
Good luck

Hi mclay
Make you a deal.
Come to WA and rent yourself some wheels and you can take "Hey Jude" for a tow around the state. You can see her under "New Members Baby" Page 2 of the Members Photo Gallery.
