Thought it was time to learn how to post photo's so I can share our hunting exploits with you!!
We are looking for just the right van to start our...no not start....continue.... our Vintage Van interest!
As a rule you always look before you leap!
We learnt this very much applies when looking for vintage vans!!
The following series of pictures are of the van we thought ...we "thought" .. was going to be our first vintage van restoration...Trev tells me you dont stop at one..!! .....Well it's happening already..!!
A friend purchased this doosey 6 months ago, knew we were after one and since he was paying storage on it and hadn't the time to work on it, offered it to us!
All we had to do was pick it up...if we did not want it we were happy to store it as we have plenty of room on the property!!
All exited to see this van we had heard so much about...that was going to be ours....did not need too much work etc.......at last ;D ...we loaded up the car for the hour and a bit trip accross town to collect it!
Needless to say it was not the 50's plywood van we expected!!
It might have been bondwood...once...it might have!!
That is untill someone got to it and added a layer of Alloy!!!
Last face lift that went that wrong was on Sam Newman!!
Well at least thats what we think has happened...does anyone recognise what it started out as in life!!
We call it the Doosey Duck ...we were told before we picked it up it was a brand called "Daisy Duck",, ever heard of it
The interior is/was nicely done and has survived..sort of...but the frame is completely rotten!.
The tow hitch is a first for me...it hinges around a ball (1 1/8") diam.and is held shut by a pin (or a gutter bolt if you go by this one!)
This may be a clue to it's age...and is why we think the alloy was added as a ney layer in later years!
All in all, it is now at our place ....as a kind of incentive...or motivator....and will...hopefull...be joined by a more realistic restoration proposition as soon as we can find one!!
Look forward to any info you can provide on "the duck" for interest sake at least...have to turn it into a positive somehow...might as well learn from the journey..true??!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Regards,
Marc
