these shots are of my FB (The Rat) and my 196? bondwood. It was made by a carpenter in the 60's who also made a timber boat (long gone). I purchased the van from his son and at the time it had been undercover since '87(still is), i have left the interior as is cause it was in pretty good nic.even down to the origional waterslide decals of a dolphin and fruit bowls. We are repainting the exterior at the moment, i have overhauled the brakes and replaced the wheel bearings. It still has the origional icebox and the annexe is in really good condition. We intend to take it to Loxton S.A. just after Christmas for the FX/FJ Nationals. I will send some other pics of my '59? wayfarer when i start to do the resto in it. Regards Bill

lookin good cuz .........a nice early 60's combo ..........is the van going to have flames to match The Rat? You van looks like "Panorama" ..... the van my Dad built in the early sixties ........we towed it in 1963 from Perth to Sydney behind Dad's near new FB wagon. The FB burnt a valve about 300 mile west of Port Augusta and we limped into Port Augusta towing the van on only 5 pots ....... I don't recall Dad's FB having flames painted down the side at the time though, maybe they weren't an option on the wagons ;D

Thanks for your comments Mark, i have been trying to find out the name of the van and as it was built from plans in the early 60's this has proven to be a bit of a problem. I have not been able to track it down in my collection of early van books, the son of the guy who built it doesn't seem to have any interest in it and can't even tell me what year it was constructed and could only give me one photo of it whilst on holidays next to the EH they used to tow it with. I thought of flaming the van but as it will be towed behind my wifes EH i thought origional would be the way to go . As for the flames on the Rat, these were a very, very rare factory option that didn't catch on in those conserative times . If you have any views of a Panorama i would be interested to see if they match my van, it has an icebox up front under the table for two, permanent double bed,no sink or water tank, closed cupboards on the right side, wardrobe, open shelves front and rear, two draws under the bed and a timber chassis. Thanks again Regards Bill
