After some wire brushing it appears I may have a chassis number after all. It's only 2 digits though? P3. The other marks are where a weld has been cut off as they match perfectly to similar lines on the other side of the draw bar and they are a different colour metal to the P3. Does anyone know what the P3 may mean? I can't upload a picture as I keep getting an error that says the Forum has reached it's upload limit?

I have a genuine Vintage rubber mattress( I think rubber is latex these days?), its double size and WAS in excellent condition until two windows in my van lost their glass and the mattress got water marked. I tried to sponge it off and made the stains bigger.. Whoops. It looks bad but is really only rainwater.... I don't want it anymore as I want the bed it's on to be able to fold up and down into the couch/bed position... I'll email u the pic of the stains if u r interested....
This is not an innerspring or foam mattress, its like a latex one, very, very soft and supportive at the same time, adjusts to your body and springs back to shape,,,, Really comfy, I put it on my bedroom bed at one stage for back comfort but it was too small for my queen bed to leave on permanently.

Gee u were quick, I was expecting to come back on in a few days to see if there were any replies, LOL.. He has quite a few.... Real 'Black' bakelite is quite rare and there are a few different browns, walnut brown, speckled brown and some look blackish. I think the only way this can work is if u email me a clear pic (my email is visible in my profile) of the switch u r trying to match and I will forward it to my friend who will then rummage through his excess and I'll get back to u.. He works 2 jobs so it won't be a quick process but, may be worth it if u end up with that 1 switch u've been needing. NOTE- it would help if u can also email a pic of the rear with the brand stamps..

If anyone is trying to match a powerpoint or light switch, 1940's to 1970's, I have a collector friend that currently has some excess he is willing to sell. Message me a pic of the one u need to match and I can pass it on and message u back with a pic and price? Not for complete sets, just odds and bods that might be just the 1 or 2 that yr van is missing. He has lots of bakelite ones and bakelite bits-(bits of light fittings etc) (:>)=

Hi Cobber, I've been lying low... I've popped in now and then but haven't had a lot to say, LOL....I ran out of words.... The trademark which I think says 'Tauri' came up with this when Googled. trade.indiamart.com/details.mp?offer=1738639073I have no idea if it is or isn't related... I can't make out the ' product of xxxx Plywood Pty ' either.... I enlarged, cropped, enhanced and tried my daughter reading glasses on and still can't make it out.

Found this trade stamp on a piece of ply inside my Canny Van. Don't know if it's the original or replacement as I also found some areas had been lined with Masonite?

The ferry, if u are towing the van is quite reasonable. For a Ford Explorer towing a 3.5(total length) van its about $227 plus the fare for yourself on top of that.

A metal rod I found under the rotted cupboard lining between the ply panels? The strange very old brittle plasticky paper wrapper says something like 'REDRO? RAJMOHAN R??' any clues anyone?

I have finally started pulling off/out some of the old water ruined lining of my van. I found a Trademark on a piece of Plywood, I think its an added on piece though, still old, but not the original. I'll post a pic later on. I found that some areas of the van do have plywood and then the aluminium and some dont. Also, found that some of the older and original? lining of the van roof and walls is Masonite, with nasty fibreglass insulation behind on the ceiling parts. The rest of the ceiling lining has been replaced with newer/old Ply and has had white polystyrene strips glued to the aluminium. I really did not realise how much work thee is to be done. Its a bit daunting! It took me 1/2 hr just to WD40 and hammer tap a big turning nut loose on one of the stabilisers. Does anyone know if it was common practise to put fibreglass insulation in the ceilings of aluminium vans?

Hi LittleBlackBird. Ever thought of an old wooden box to use as a step? Painted/varnished & a sprinkling of sand thrown onto the top whilst paint/varnish dries to give a non-slip finish. Or strips of sand paper. Just a thought. There`s a couple of new fold up ones on ebay. cheers gordon Hi Gordon, I need to avoid lifting, especially bending and lifting at the same time. So the wooden box step is a no go. I saw the ones on ebay but they are so shiny and new, I think they might look silly on the old tinny van. Thanks though Gordon.

Hi everyone, I am still after caravan step to buy to attach to my tinny van. I really need one that will attach to the van permanently. I dont care if its old and rusty, in fact I would expect it to be as I want an old one, LOL.. So long as its still holding together. ;D Please, if anyone is renovating a/some vans and has a spare one, keep me in mind. Cheers all, Vikki. )))) I know they are hard to come by, but my physical condition is getting worse and I want to make everything in/on my van easier for me so I will still be able to get away in it despite the fact I am rapidly falling apart. (((. ;D

Thats what I was thinking of. Once I get some Galv flat tin, Ply and Aluminium pulled out and aged to a degree. It just makes it more personal and if they are making us apply to the Newer van rules if we use one of their issued numbers it sort of takes away the V V van thing, for me anyway... How on earth would they know I removed the one I already got stamped and put a new one?? Dont reply to that one, it's rhetorical....

I have not registered it yet and they issued it to me as the seller had not provided one and they said it was needed for the towing permit. I was told that if when I collected the van that if it had one to ignore the one they gave me when I registered it and use the one on it?

The colours u have used inside really go great with the exterior. You must have put a lot of thought into it and its turned out great. Very very nice, Is the little red box on the bedside table a mini TV?
