and so the sad tale of the ol' pommy caravan continues ..... If you have a look at this pic, where I've drawn the arrow, you'll notice the seem coming apart ......the problems actually started before the caravan was loaded onto the truck In Bridgetown, about 100 kms from Pemberton, ........called into to catch up with Megan & Richard, and borrowed some 100mph racing tape to do some running repairs to where the seem was coming apart, plus repairs to the door that was missing the bottom pins in the hinges ...... stopped about a further 250 kms at the Brookton pub for a beer n feed, and noticed the door had come adrift (still hanging there). Tried to replace the door, and tape it, but couldn't refit the door ......it was totally dark by then, so couldn't really see what the problem was, so removed the door and placed it inside the caravan. On the 30km stretch between Brookton & Beverley, the right hand side of the caravan gave way, and was flapping in the breeze Here's why the door wouldn't refit in Brookton, the floor had given way and the whole rear of the caravan was sagging and the right hand side ......what can I say the wheel is no longer parallel with the chassis shame, coz the caravan had sone nice little features: suspension: fold down stove: neat little storage racks on the insides of the cupboards the little rear window is a like a "skylight" into the wardrobe number plate frame nice handles, that I thought were only reflectors oh dear, there's no frame, and the inside wall has totally rotted so, sadly the local resident vintage caravan wrecker got his hands on it: wouldn't a street machiner or hot rodder luv to get a hold of these lil succers for a caravan project ;D ......they are in fact lights Mark

Mate.... I think we should try and keep this to our selves, the poms love these Car Cruisers..... there could be an international incident if they find out what you've done to this one.
Sell the bits on eBay..... you'll make a motza.
Cobber.

Actually there was a thread on another site recently about imported English vans. The consensus seemed to be "ok but not up to aussie conditions"....... seems they were right.

And I thought you were supposed to be the god of caravan preservation.
How could you treat that fine English van with such contempt and disregard for her future well being.
Are you going to strip it for all the period goodies or is a restoration on the cards.
If you are stripping it bring the bits over to Cowra and set up a stall during the VC swap meet on Monday arvo. I might even come across and give you a couple of dollars for those light/handle things!
Even better might I suggest you keep the lights and get some cast up. I am sure there would be a market for some of those.
See you in Cowra.
Leigh.
