Hi all We haven't been anywhere since Canungra so the caravanning bug is starting to bite, since we can't make it to Kenilworth (a 2 wheel purchase is pulling us down the coast round that time)! So we've just booked in to Bargara Beach Caravan Park for 25-29 January (just out of school holidays). Australia day is Pub Hol on Thurs 26 Jan. I maybe can get a couple more days off to make it a week. www.bargarabeach.com.au/welcome.aspI've told BBCP that other Vintage van people may come too, so when you book, mention Vin Vans & pet friendly sites. The whole of the 16 pet friendly, powered grass sites are available at moment. We checked out this caravan park earlier in the year & it's really great. Lovely flat grassy areas, nice trees, just opposite the beach, snorkeling out the front, & it's only a 2.5 km walk along the beach to Mon Repos to see the turtle rookery. Last week in january is the best time to see turtles, as you get the last of the adults laying eggs & the first of the hatchlings racing off to the water. There's also a great day trip out to Lady Musgrave Island to see the reef, but of course that ain't cheap. BBCP costs $32/night + $8/extra person. So hope to see you there!! Have a great Xmas everyone! Cheers smiles

Agnes waters? that brings back memories. When we were kids our grandparents had a one bedroom shack there. From memory andI could be wrong, the land at agnes was privately owned and my gparents paid an annual fee to the farmer to have the shack there. Shouldnt call it a shack it was actually a house, no power, we had a kero fridge, tnak water and a long drop. Many a holiday was spent there and one year it rained hard , the road from miriam vale was cut and we had food dropped by a plane to us. This was only in the early 70s, amazing to think whats happened to the place now.

Hi All, Well it's like this - no photos will be forthcoming from Bargara this weekend No doubt you would have seen on the news, but the weather up here is extremely wet. With more rain forcast every day for the coming week. Phil & Louise and Cathie & Rob are definately flooded in. Also Phil & Louise don't currently have power or phone land line. Luckily their houses and shed are ok, it's just the roads and creeks are impassable. I spoke to Doug yesterday evening - he had come home early from work as he was expecting to be effected by the floods. I have left a couple of message for him this morning, but haven't heard how he is fairing. Hopefully both he and Tracy are ok? The underground garage area started flooding at my place yesterday, but I managed to get the drains cleared, so fingers crossed. Therefore I have cancelled our 4 bookings at the caravan park and have got a 6 months extension. I have also cancelled the "turtle show" booking that Phil made for us on Friday Night and have an extension on that as well. Vicki & John, I'm sorry that I don't have any contact details for you and I don't know your surname, so i wasn't able to cancel your booking at the caravan park. So you will need to do that yourself, unless you still want to go for the night. I've just heard on the news that they are expecting flooding to happen again in the Lockyer Valley. My thoughts are with all of those people in SEQ and Northern NSW who are effected by the weather. Regards Di

Thanks for doing all that Di, I just got my Park credit. I think the little turtles are still hatching till Sometime around March so if anyone wants to suggest another date? The rain just doesn't stop does it? Energy people will helicopter someone in to restore power in Phil' area. We're down to the powdered milk...yuck! Seems like Brisbane is coping a hammering again . Hope everyone is OK in the SEQ mob. Smiles

Sorry Di I am in a bit of a reception "hole" here and the weather makes it worse, still no sign of your messages yet!! I am flooded in at the moment but probably could get out tomorrow; seems little point with half of us not being able to get there ... I am glad that the park and turtle mob are playing nice! Now, alternate dates ... 3/4/5 Feb - clashes with Toowoomba Swap 10/11/12 Feb - works for me (isn't that all that counts?? ;D ;D) 17/18/19 Feb - nah I'm working (see, it IS all about me!! ;D ;D) 24/25/26 Feb - nope, Joey and Banno's anniversary run... 2/3/4 Mar - nope, I'm working ... 9/10/11 Mar - working again! 16/17/18 Mar - clashes with Spring Gully Stays ... 23/24/25 Mar - works for me!!! OK, just kidding about the work weekends, work is only a conceptual thing anyway and nothing a couple of shift swaps can't fix . Tracy is free most weekends and can usually squib the Friday no worries also. Lets us know when suits you guys, we'll work around that. Cheers and beers, since I am at home on "flood leave".... ;D ;D ;D Doug.

Hey Doug glad to hear you're ok. Phil's got the power now but no phone, no Internet so I texted them your dates. 10/11/12 feb's good for us, so whenever we all decide on a date, maybe we can check out the weather & book just a few days before going again. It's a big park so don't imagine that would be a problem out of school hols. Just got a text from Louise they'll figure out dates re work smiles

Hi Cathie,
I know, it's been a lovely day here on the Sunshine Coast as well.
John and Vicki replied to my email. Their driveway is also flooded and John mentoned that he had to drive to Bundaberg for work yesterday and all the creeks looked like they were about to break their banks.
So sounds like we were better off staying at home on this occasion.
Regards Di

Hi all Spoke too soon! Rain has increased overnight so when Rob decided to go into town to get milk & Sikaflex (we all know which is more important, yes the Sikaflex cos we need to get on with the Castle reno in the rain & you can get used to powdered milk), yes the creeks are up again! Anyway thinking about the re-scheduling of event, looks like dates in Feb & March may be hard to get for Phil as he's just had a long holiday, we need to be working on a van for Cowra & turtles will be gone by late March so I emailed caravan park re changing our booking to Australia Day weekend 2013. So how do you all feel about going to Bargara for Australia Day 2013? Minimum dates for weekend I'd imagine would be Frid 25/1, Sat 26/1, Sun 27/1 & extra days either side that anyone wants to go for. Public Hol is on Monday so that gives a longer weekend for people to make it there & time for other people to organise some extra holiday time etc & even plan a day trip to Lady Elliot Island (brilliant snorkeling) as well as turtle tour. Obviously being a Pub Hol, means we need to do a booking sooner rather than later, (if that's what we all want). So if we all decide YES let's go Oz day 2013, then let us know here, & people with credit can reply by email to Bargara & make a new booking. There's 16 powered grass sites & masses of unpowered sites in the pet friendly area, & heaps of other powered slab sites in rest of park. Here's the reply from Bargara. Hi Cathie This will be fine I will extend your booking to credit a 12mnths, once you know your dates just give us a call and we can transfer your credit to the new dates. Do you have the names of any other parties with your group that may have also cancelled over this weekend so I can extend their credit to 12mnths also. Australia day long weekend in 2013 is the Monday 28th January which is the public holiday. Jody Have a perfect day! Hello. Hope all survived the wet o.k. We have our phone line back (with internet). We are still flooded in but all is well. Australia Day weekend 2013 really suits me best (retired then). I could do with more time on van resto. I rang Bargara Van Park today and got my 12 month extension as well. Cheers. Phil.
