The week prior to Coledale sounds good. Is there a run in Mexico the weekend prior,Cora Lynn? perhaps we could start there. Cruz

The suggested time is fine by me, I think you just need to book a time and see who can fit it in eventually. Even if it's initially a small group the chances are it will grow if it is a good event. I don't think it matters when it is set up it will always clash with something for someone, just bite the tow ball and see what comes of it George

Sounds a bit like everybody's saying "I will if you will!" Jennison, I think it would be an idea to talk to the Tathra people re dates too. Would the weekend before Coledale be school holiday time? In which case a group booking may not be possible for them. What's wrong with the week after Coledale even? If there was a group going from Vic, I would certainly be interested in going, perhaps with a slow cruise up there ala Reddo's tour. Some lovely country to drive through from this end. Ray

Hi, the week before Coledale ( as it was this year) would allow us to do a tour starting at the Chrome Bumper show that used to be CoraLynn ( one of the best one day shows you'll see anywhere ) ,with caravan sites and good facilities in the grounds for participants ,then a tour through various locations in the following week finishing up at Tathra on perhaps the Friday.....stay there until maybe Monday and then for those that want to ,another leisurely tour up the coast to Coledale for the next weekend. 2 solid weeks on vintage vanning experience with on road touring ....how good is that? Idea's and suggestions from anyone who thinks they'll enjoy being part of this series of events is welcome , plenty of time to sort out details yet but some indication of numbers will help with planning where we go and where we stay....so don't be backward about coming forward , let us know if you want to go !

G'day Kaybee, Coming, as I would be, from the Sydney area I would take a leisurely tour down to Tathra arriving on the Friday.... stay there until Monday then join the rest of the tourists traveling from Tathra to Coledale, hopefully via a different route than the one I took getting to Tathra . Sounds good Cobber.

Yup.... I know i said that next years East Coast Tour would be starting up North and heading north towards the QLD border...... But... The thought of a weekend at Tathra Friday through to Monday is too good to ignore. Humpty.. we could have 2 ft of rain and 100 knot winds and we would still have a good time. The park is well protected as te beach front faces Nor east and the park sits in behind a low sandhill and a thick hedge of bansias etc. The Kitchen area would hold around 80 to 100 people easily and the 2 big roller doors can be dropped to either lower the noise level for other campers .. or protect us from the elements... There is still the issue of the weekend before Coledale being the last weekend of the NSW School hols. Soooooooooooooooo.. ya would need to check with Tathra to see if they can fit us in . Cobber ... your comments about travelling to and fro via different routes... Easy peasy mate... My plan would be to leave Newy on Thursday morning , go the same way i went to Eden this year i.e: via Golbourn, Braidwood, Nelligen , Batemans with an overnight stay again at The Riverbreeze caravan park Newy to Moruya took me around 7 liesurley hours which included lunch at Braidwood and 2 ales at the steampacket rubbity dub. An easy 2 hours or so on Friday morningfrom Moruya would put you in Tathra. Leave Monday from Tathra and head up to Bermagui/Narooma/ or Uladulla for a night. Tuesday up to Kendalls for a night ... then an easy hour and a bit to Coledale on wednesday morning.. Can definitely not recommend the riverfront caravan park at sussex inlet... Suit yaselves how long ya hang at Coledale . Wednesday to sunday?? or simply make it another night stop over on your way back up north. But.. fa now we ( someone ) needs to talk to FrankieJ and his missus to see if we can get a leg in on the last weekend of the school hols. If my memory serves me correct we lobbed up there on the Monday of this years tour.... the day the kids went back to school... .. yes no. We vertually had the place to ourselves. Anyway.. ya can count me in.... I love travelling . As John Williamson once said... "The windscreen is just a travelling picture show". I can sit in a car until the wheels fall off it. Reddo

Hi All I've been following the thread about Tathra but this is the first time I looked at the location because I had it in mind it was somewhere near QLD. Seems a very pretty spot from the pictures posted by the attendees this year. Come on Victorians - it's not far...you can do it! I understand that the border patrols aren't that frequent, and we could easily slip through... By Google's reckoning, it's only about 7 hours away from Melbourne. Anyone considering attending from down south, who isn't retired/making a week of it (sadly still a slave to my paycheck)? If our van's ready I wouldn't mind doing the "long weekend" version - with a Friday and Monday to travel up and back. Love to meet some of the fraternity - if they'll have us "fibregrossers". Cheers Seeshell

Hi All,
Depending on lots of things, like how we pull up after the trip to Cowra Nationals, we would possibly be able to get to Melbourne a week before Cora Lynn, then do a big tour thru to Tathra, then Coledale, then home. It would be a great trip, & not that much more than our trip last Christmas when we towed Lucille to Melbourne, then back up the Coast. A bit more fuel driving my hotrod & towing Deejay, but not that much more.
Its definitely more fun travelling in a group than on your own, like we did.
We both like the idea of several weeks on the road. Just have to save some bickies for next years travelling.
Bring it on

OK................. I see a problem with the date (for some)? There has been mention of the WA WEB/FORUM 10th ANNIVERSARY RUN ...........HAPPENING IN OCTOBER 2012. It is my intention to do that run by hook or by crook.... if that event gets to be a goer.. There has been mention by a few east coaster that we would like to do the WA anniversary run, but I suppose there will be many who can't, so maybe Tathra/Coledale in October will still work . Cobber.

Cora Lynn, Tathra and on to Coledale. Sounds like the perfect excuse for some long service leave. Count us in. Scot

I have heard back from Tathra and they can fit us in OK that weekend. They would like to know roughly how many sites we would like held over for us. To save cluttering up this thread perhaps people could please PM me with their expressions of interest and for when they may be staying and I will put it all together and let the park know the numbers jenno

You're missing the point....its not about the weather. Here is an opportunity to have 2 great events in NSW.......not one tied to the other!!!.

Gday Ray, Oct long weekend before Coledale. I have already had some responses from a few who plan to go on to Coledale. I am all for reddos tour plans, its a great piece of the country, great roads and plenty of parks tween Tathra and Coledale to choose from. Also to explain, my suggestion that people PM me their intention to attend was because of the dramas (and subsequent discussion)we had on the EC tour when one of the "tourees" house was broken into during their absence. With that in mind I thought it better not to "publish" openly to just any one onsite the prospective attendees list....IE to dodgy guests surfing the VV site who may be seeking to use that knowledge to their ciminally inclined advantage during our absence. Any member please feel free to contact me if they wish to know if a particular VV mate is attending and I will of course pass it on. jenno PS ...This problem may well be worthy of its own thread and some input and discussion by everyone. Because of what happened on the tour we discussed and were worried that our attendance lists for events should maybe be assimilated and coordinated by one or two organisers a little less openly to outsiders. A shame, but with the fraud, theft and other problems from criminals on the web?! I dunno but I imagine "facebookers" would be ill advised of declaring their absence from home for the same reason. Are we any more secure from attack from such dirtbags?

You're missing the point....its not about the weather. Here is an opportunity to have 2 great events in NSW.......not one tied to the other!!!. So... what your saying Pete is that you would like to travel up and down the coast twice instead of enjoying just one trip south and then taking in the other venue on the way home. We have alreay touched on the idea of having a extended weekend at Tathra at some other time of the year.. But no one has come up with a suitable date that fits in with the rest of the vintage vanning calender year.... especialy next year with the mootorfest....nats towards the end of the first qaurter. Munmorah/Blacksmiths ... Gresford....Kendalls.. tour /tathra / coledale. I for one will be hapy to head south once and enjoy all the trip back up the coast to Coledale. I suppose it all comes down to a philosophy i have stuck to for years...... if the dates dont suit.. dont go. Plenty of other events during the year to catch up with all the vanning fraternity. Jenno... PM sent. Cheers Reddo Reddo

I will be arriving there on Fri 5th Oct (in time for pizza night!) and stay till Tue 9th. Plenty of time to mosey nth to coledale from there. Their phone number is 64941302. I have pegged an initial block of 20 sites for us. As people book themselves in please let them know you are part of the vintage van lot and if you can send me a PM I will keep a master list for our reference as well Come on now get your bookings in and commit to this top offer jennison

Howdy all, We may or may not be attending Tathra........just depends on when that time comes around. Personally we think a different time of the year would have been much better but of course we will try to join everyone for a great adventure.......and even a sing-a-long with FJH Our biggest problem is that when any touring event is organised it is outside school holiday time........so if you got kids.......it don't work. Can't just go plucking them out of school when you feel like it. If in future events there are only 6-12 vans attending, then this shouldn't matter what time of the year it is held? Anyway.........as the time gets closer we will know by then for sure and hopefully will join in with the pre-Coledale fun! (and hopefully a vintage car that is actually going cheers Kaz n Adam

(and hopefully a vintage car that is actually going cheers Kaz n Adam Hi Kaz and Adam Tathra 2012 will be a weekend event. Friday 5th Oct to Monday... So you could give the kids friday off and travel down to Tathra... From what i can make out Friday night would be a big night . ... and i am sure we would still be in party mode on saturday night. You could head off for home by mid / late sunday morning and the kids would be back at school monday morning. Or...look at it this way. They are only young once.... a few days out of school away with mum and dad at a vint van weekend would stick in thier minds for a lifetime. I am sure that idea would get the nod from them over the thought of heading back to school. "If in future events there are only 6-12 vans attending, then this shouldn't matter what time of the year it is held?" Not too sure what you mean The idea of having the Tathra weekend at some other time of year was discussed earlier . It was decided to have it the weekend before Coledale for a couple of reasons. It saves most people that are attending Coledale from down south .. VIC and QLD having to travel long distances twice.. Once to Coledale and again to Tathra if they where keen. We can combine another east coast tour in between Tathra and Coledale ( for those that can get time off work and are able to pull the kids out of school). The date wasnt decided based on the number of vans attending. It would have still beeen held even if only a handfull had agreed to attend. The managers mentioned that they would "go the extra miles"for us if we managed to get at least 20 vans there .. and from what i can make out we have around 20 pledges to attend... hence the possibility( not confirmed yet) of FJH show and possibly a pizza night combined... Yup.. it would be nice if you had your vintage car up and running .... but as you know, It isnt a pre requisite for towing your vint van on a run. The important thing is dragging the van along with whatever has the steam to pull it, ..... and having fun getting to the venues and... enjoying yourself. Hope you guys can make it. Reddo
