I've seen it rain on the Rock.. When my twin sister and I were 17 and still on our P plates our parents let us take Herbie (the most unreliable of all the VW's we have... but we didn't know that when we bought him!) to Ayers Rock/Uluru.... and the day we were supposed to leave we got up and it was raining.... So we rang home.... and stayed another day so we could see it. It really does turn purple.... Worth being on the list!! Vanessa

Spot on Penny61. You can camp right next to the jail, short stroll to very safe beach & nice bushwalks. Just out of South West Rocks NSW.
Re my photos, I copy the image code from photobucket but they always come up this size. What am I doing wrong?

.............might it be the pedestrian bridge over Rapid Creek in the Nightcliffe area of Darwin?

Yes it might! I used to live on the worst street in Darwin (one of the reasons I moved was because my bug kept getting vandalised in my driveway....Shame really, it's quite a pretty area...) which is in Rapid Creek.... and this was just around the corner.

hey, I've walked that bridge several times. I used to (try to) catch fish and live bait just downstream from there. yeah, I think I remember your house!....wasn't it the one with the yard full of old car bodies and hard rubbish and long grass?

Nope, it was a unit, with a Bug (or two) parked out the front. One time a cop was knocking on my door to tell me Sophie was "dumped" in the middle of the street about 100m away.... another time I had tomato sauce squeezed all over the roof (of my hardtop) cigarette butts thrown over the top.... And the "4 Sale $500" sign off the bomb around the corner on my window.... I had 3 people want to buy Chester before I knew anything was wrong. That wasn't counting the weirdo who used to vandalise him every time I washed him on the grass.... even though I was the only one who watered it.... because apparently even though it was MY grass you aren't supposed to park on grass, "concrete is for cars". Caught him trying to get his dog to pee on my tyre once too.... And there was more.... I decided moving would be easier.
If you're not carefull you can catch crocodiles in that creek too!

If you're not carefull you can catch crocodiles in that creek too! yeah, when I was fishing down near the mouth I often couldn't be bothered walking all the way back to the foot bridge so I used to hop across the backs of the snapping handbags to get over to the other side!

I doubt that.... the pcture was taken IN the mouth of the creek.... the crocks were further up where the water was. Didn't stop the kids from swimming in it though.
