Again thank's for the help. Please tell me if I am posting to much/wrong place or just being a pest. Danny, Tasmania.

Hi Danny, Never a bother looking at great photos and talking about vintage vans! Fantastic Newlands you have there. To remove frig there should be 4 screws or nuts and bolts through the floor accessed from under floor, undo these,go back inside and pull bottom vent forward, you should now see the gas pipe, undo with 2spanners,slide frig forward and unplug 240v from power point.Job done if can understand my instructions! Cushions look original to me,usually was cotton under ,does that seem to be the case? Cheers hughdeani

Hi Newdans,
What a great van you have there! Thanks so much for posting all the photos - at this point we don't know too much about Newlands, and have very few pictures of their vans, so to have the detailed photos of your van is excellent. I love the finish on the cupboard doors. Different to most other vans.
Because we don't know much about Newlands it's a bit hard to be able to date your van and we don't know what serial number scheme they used. I think 'N' stands for Newlands but that's about it. However, if we get photos of more vans posted, the serial number will help us work out what order they come in, etc.

Hughdeani, Yes cotton under and vinal on top,no rips or tears. Thank's for the directions on fridge removal, the bolts are there and easy enough to get at. Will remove, clean, test and replace. Have been trying to find thing's to do,there is not much to do. Tighten a few screws, clean some dust, and paint the draw bar. That's about it.
Don, Is the lack of Newlands info because they weren't built to last,or not many built? Regard's, Danny.

Hi Newdans,
Hughdeani is probably the best one to venture an opinion on why not many 60's Newlands have appeared on the forum, because he was involved in the caravan industry for quite a period. Maybe build quality was an issue, but it may also be that Newlands only started in the mid to late 60's and possibly only built relatively small numbers in that decade compared to some of the other manufacturers such as Viscount and Franklin who were producing caravans in their thousands at that time.
Over to you Hughdeani...

Hi all, Newlands built lots of vans over the years,it's just a lot of them had other people's names on them! Ie Scenic,Carola,Rambler to name a few.Newlands were one of the better builders of the day,as you have found out with your lovely example. Cheers hughdeani

G'Day all, I am very grateful for all the help and information I received in relation to my Newlands Caravan. I am also appreciative of the warm welcome I got from All members. I sincerely hope my photo's will be of some use for the excellent research you guy's are doing for all. Unfortunately I think it would be best for all if I bowed out respectfully, social networking has never been a strong point with me.I may pop in,as guest only,to see your excellent work and maybe get a idea or two from time to time. Thank's Respectfully your's Danny.(newdans) Account Deleted.

Hi Newdans,
I'm very sad to see you've left the forum. It is your decision, of course, but I trust that it wasn't because you were hassled off-line or via PM (Personal Message)? Unfortunately we know that happens in some instances, but it is not acceptable forum behaviour if that's what happened.
In any case, thank you for posting the photos of your van. They are much appreciated and have made a valuable contribution to our knowledge about Newlands caravans.
Remember, that you're always welcome to re-join us formally, but I'm glad you're going to keep an eye on the forum informally as a 'watcher', which is also quite OK. And keep on enjoying that van of yours. It's a beauty!

Hi All, I’m new to the forum (be nice please!). I bought the 1969 Sundowner that one of the members mentioned on this forum somewhere. It has been three year journey with limited time and space to do the work, but the caravan has actually been restored. Unfortunately, it was so rotten inside I had to fully renovated, and now it has a whole range of modern tricks. If I can work out how to post photographs, I’d be happy to share some if you’re interested in taking a look? Cheers

Hi Cocktailsready, Welcome to the Forum and thanks for telling us what happened to the Newlands Sundowner van. I think you can find the posts about the van you are looking for if you click on this link. We'd love to see how it looks now, so please do post the photos. The easiest way to post photos is using the 'Add Attachment' button - there is information how to do that if you click on this link. But please note that because you are posting from your mobile, there is an extra step you have to take to make the button appear. The info in the link explains how to do that. It's not hard to do. Let us know if you have any trouble and we'll help you out. Don Ricardo
